It's been a few days since the Steemit Engagement Challenge Season 5 Week 1 started, and on this occasion I want to join the Challenge held by Hot News Community and if you want to see the original post from the contest, please look at Steemit Engagement Challenge S5-W1 | My traditional Wears.
Aceh is a province located at the westernmost tip of Indonesia. Aceh is one of the provinces in Indonesia with special regional status and until now Aceh is still with special status. Until 2020, Aceh has a population of 5,274,871 people. Aceh is bordered to the north and east by the Malacca Strait and to the west by the Indian Ocean.
Once upon a time, Aceh was known as Aceh Darussalam. This province was formed in 1956 under the name Aceh before changing its name to the Special Region of Aceh. The name of the Special Region of Aceh changed to Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam, and finally returned to Aceh since 2009. On December 26, 2004 the Tsunami earthquake devastated Aceh and 170,000 people died in the disaster. Now Aceh has risen from adversity.
Aceh has many traditional clothes, various kinds of traditional clothes are owned. Here I only talk about traditional clothes that are often used by the people of Aceh. This traditional Acehnese clothing is ulee balang. Why is it called Ulee Balang, because at that time this clothing was only worn by the royal family or the sultanate at every royal event.
Ulee Balang itself consists of 2 types, namely Linto Baroe (male) and Dara Baroe (female). The hallmark of Aceh's traditional clothing with other regions, including this clothing motif, is a combination of Malay culture and Islamic culture.
Linto baroe clothing consists of several kinds, including clothes, pants, traditional weapons (rencong), head coverings (keupiah meukeutop), sarongs (ija songket) and several other elements. As for the baroe maiden, it consists of a bracket, pants, sarong, headgear (patam dhoe), brooch (keureusang), crown, earrings and other elements.
The price of 1 most expensive traditional aceh clothing suit for men and women is Rp. 4.500.000 / 1,301 steem (Exchange price of 1 STEEM to IDR 3,457 today (11 October 2022) at 17:00 WIB on the application Upbit Indonesia). Meanwhile, the rental price for 1 full suit of aceh traditional clothes for men and women is Rp. 500,000/ 144 steem.
Rarely do we find people buying aceh traditional clothes, most people rent them at rental services. It's not that they can't afford it, but they prefer to rent because these clothes are only used on certain occasions. After using it, they return it to the rental service again.
Traditional aceh clothes for him are made of silk and the raw materials of this cloth are woven from cotton and have a long durability. In traditional Acehnese clothing, we will find gold thread embroidery. These embroidery have various meanings, not only in embroidery and all embroidery results have their own meaning.
The colors contained in the motifs of traditional aceh clothing we often find there are several colors, including the red color symbolizing heroism, the gold or yellow color symbolizing the sultanate, the white color symbolizing purity, the black color symbolizing firmness and the green color reflecting Islam. The colors mentioned above are often found in Acehnese traditional clothes.

In the scope of the world, there are no similarities between traditional Acehnese clothes and traditional clothes in other countries. Only the traditional clothes of Aceh have similarities with other provinces in Aceh, such as the traditional clothes of South Sumatra (Palembang). We can find similarities including clothes, pants, sarongs, crowns and some of their elements.
Even though they have similarities, there are differences between Acehnese traditional clothes and Palembang traditional clothes. It could be that the similarities between Aceh traditional clothes and Palembang are only 50%, the rest are different. Even if they have similarities, they won't be the same.
