INTRODUCTION
For this article, I'd like to ask what do you understand about Traditions and Holidays? According to Cambridge Dictionary Tradition is a belief, principle, or way of acting that people in a particular society or group have continued to follow for a long time, or all of these beliefs, etc. in a unique society or group. That is to say, these are programs or activities a certain group or society practices either periodically or every day. That brings us to Holiday, one can say this is a day where one is exempted from work or labour to enjoy leisure time. But then Vocabulary tells us that, it is an event acknowledged by the state or federal government and marked on calendars. The sole reason for holidays is that one exempts himself from work and spend time with family and friends to have fun and excitement which helps boast togetherness.
On that note, just like every other state in Nigeria, we have so many holidays, even some with some very absurd reasons behind them. But for the sake of this post, I will unwrap you to one of the biggest and most colourful extravaganzas in Nigeria; "THE CALABAR CARNIVAL"
CALABAR CARNIVAL
Here in Nigeria, we know it as the "pride of the street" as it's a street carnival where we have different performances/exhibitions ranging from pageantry, dance, fashion to food and not forgetting the king of them all, music.
According to Wikipedia it is Africa's biggest street party and it's celebrated once every year during December in Cross-river state.
It plays host even to foreigners from different parts of Africa and of the world at large. It is a very colourful event that started in the year 2014 with the then Governor of the state to serve as a platform for tourism and hospitality and it has kept on growing from strength to strength.
I count myself lucky to have been a partaker myself in the year 2019. I have been to different carnivals here in Nigeria but trust me, the Pride of the Street slaps different. If you've never experienced it before, I will advise you to.
Like always, cause I know I can't be here to write without you on the other side, I can never stop being appreciative of your great works. Thank you all for always making out to go through my work. I can never say thank you enough. You are my real MVPs.

Thank you for participating in the contest and introducing us to the magnificent tradition and culture of the carnival.
People filled the streets, feasting on their beautiful traditional dances and costumes. This is a celebration that gives us education about the introduction of a tradition and is seen by all eyes in the world.

I feel honoured thank you.
Great post congratulations, I enjoyed a lot reading it, Nigerian carnival in some way is similar to some south American carnival-like Brazilian o Venezuelan. That's because we have mixed traditions between African, European, and native Americans. Thank you for sharing with the community! :D/
