The Ti plant

A beautiful flower for your home and office.

I visited an office around Jericho mall in the City of Ibadan today and I noticed a beautiful flower, the name of the plant is Ti plant and its botanical name is Cordyline fruticosa. The plant is pinkish red in colour and the very matured leaves are dep green before they fall off. some cultures regard the palnt as a 'lucky plant' because it is believed that being around the plant can bring good luck and ward off evil spirits.

Though the plant is toxic to dogs if consumed, it is not toxic to humans. Dogs do not eat shrubs or flowers so you have nothing to worry about keeping the plant in close proximity to your dog. The name of the toxic chemical in the plant is Saponin.

The Ti plant purifies the air. The plant has the capacity to remove benzene, formaldehyde and some other toxins from the atmosphere. The plant can be grown indoors or outdoors.

Ti plant is an evergreen flowering plant, this means that it is not a seasonal plant but flowers in the summer. it can grow to a height of 2.5m. It belong to the family asparagaceae.

It is used in the production of dyes, ornamentation and in traditional medicine to cure several ailments and diseases.
