My Tour to Olumirin Waterfalls - The Mysterious Seven Levels Waterfall of Soul Purification with an Ancient Village at the Top

Introduction

I'm privileged to visit a few places in the one last week and these journeys grant me that wonderful chance to share my first article in this great community. Though I've been a silent reader of great articles presented by members of this community but my visit today is not to read one of those again but to share with you a tour I was involved in recently. I am @fredquantum and this piece is definitely going to be a great one. Stay with me.

My Journey to Olumirin Waterfalls

On the 11th day of January 2022, I left my house around 8:30 am for the motor park to board a bus to a popular tourist center in my state (Osun). The place is known as Olumirin Waterfalls located in a town called Erin-Ijesha in the Oriade local government of the state. The location of this tourist center is about 47 Km from my city and that's a journey estimated to take at least 1hr 16 mins.

Olumirin Waterfalls also known as Erin-Ijesha Waterfalls is an ancient waterfall believed to have been discovered in the 1140 AD by one of the daughters of Oduduwa, the ancestral father of the tribe of Yoruba, the tribe I belonged to. It's usually known as a site of purity where the traditional people offer sacrifices of cleansing their souls, formerly, and now well known for tourism.

The tourism journey started when I boarded a bus that cost 1000 Naira which is approximately 4.22 STEEM. I arrived at the location after 1hr 36mins, that's 20mins longer than the earlier estimated time. At arrival, it is required that I purchase a Visit ticket which cost another 1000 Naira also approximately 4.22 STEEM, the ticket used to be just 500 Naira but things has changed.

What's Special about Olumirin Waterfalls

This waterfalls that have 7 different levels of the waterfall which makes it 7 in 1 waterfall, quite awesome. In total, the 7 levels are said to take about 45 mins - 2 hrs hiking before one can reach their top, you can imagine what the height of these waterfalls would be in meters. According to research, at the top of the 7th level is the source of these waterfalls and an ancient village called Abake village which is under another state of the federation, what a place! I was able to make it to the second level with the aid of stairs and I can tell you it requires appreciable energy to do that. Olumirin Waterfalls attract tourists from around the world coming around to see the beauty of nature. Let's do some picture-talking.

In the last two pictures above is another tourist who met me at the center. Ølvind is a Norwegian tourist who came from Norway to explore this great place. We had a little discussion at the site and we have been in contact since the first visit and severally, he has confessed his love for how some people in this part of the world still preserve the ancient things, not allowing them to become things of the past rather keep them alive. You can see the beauty of the rainbows around my leg while I was discussing with the tourist in the last picture above.

There are hundreds of beautiful moments captured but I won't be able to share them all. It was a great time at the Olumirin waterfalls and I plan to visit again, at least to reach the source of the waterfalls and the ancient village. I have made a short video of myself under the waterfalls and have it posted on YouTube, see it below.

I don't feel like ending this yet, there are a lot of other awesome moments I wasn't able to share here, numerous 😊. It's just a beautiful moment spent over there. Let me sign out with an image.

Conclusion

Undoubtedly, I had a great time at the Olumirin waterfalls, every moment of it is beautiful. I find it hard to leave the site but I have to as it's getting late and I still have another journey of about 2 hrs to make before I get back to my residence. This is not the end of it, I will visit again and explore all I can. Thanks to everyone that read my article today.

The water falls in seven steps that a whole lot of distance to cover.

Yeah, huge one. I look forward to covering all the levels in my next visit.

My bathing was not for healing. 😆 I was only enjoying the cool water effect on my body.

It's usually known as a site of purity where the traditional people offer sacrifices of cleansing their souls, formerly, and now well known for tourism.

If you look at the sentence above, there is formerly, and this shows that the sacrificial activities were in the time past. Tourists now stay under the falling water to feel refreshed. You can look it up on the internet and see how tourists enjoy bathing under the falling water. Thanks for visiting, @victoh78. Do enjoy the rest of the day.

You really had a wonderful day at the water falls, wish I can travel back to my village to a stream that falls from atop a rock.

Yup, I had a great time up there. You can arrange a trip one of these days to visit your village and enjoy the refreshing effect of nature once again, ma'am. Thanks for visiting, @meymeyshops.

Dear professor @fredquantum !

If I may know, when will the ten introductions Crypto Academy reopen. Even though I have tried hard to achieve the required reputation and also bought steem to power up to meet the requirements. Unfortunately, you said that the ten introductions were also temporarily closed. So, when will it reopen sir?

Hello, @agus-rizal. I can't say anything about this for now. Kindly wait for an update from @steemitblog, at the right time, you would get answers to satisfy your curiosity. Be patient and have a great time up there.
