Karnak Temple: Art of Antiquity in Egypt- Club100

Good day community! Today I will tell you about my trip to Egypt, or rather about the Karnak Temple, one of the most popular places in Egypt.

This temple is located in the small town of Karnak, near Luxor. It was a very long drive from our hotel, about 4 hours. We left early in the morning, returned late at night. The trip was difficult because it was summer and it was incredibly hot in Egypt, about 45 degrees Celsius.

This is not just a temple, but a whole complex of temples. They are all very monumental. And the place itself resembles a whole city. Can you imagine how ancient this complex is? It began to be built in the 20th century BC. Its construction lasted several centuries.

Many pharaohs took part in the construction of this temple. And the last one was built by the Roman Emperor Domitian. Every pharaoh embodied his ambitions in this temple, wanted to be better than those who built before him. Some destroyed the creations of their predecessors and rebuilt anew.

The largest part of the temple is dedicated to the god Amon Ra. An alley with sphinxes leads there. Sphinxes have sheep's heads.

The alley leads you to the huge gates of the temple, which have the shape of a pyramid.There is also a temple of Ramses the Third nearby. This pharaoh was very famous.There are inscriptions on the walls about his deeds, and there are also statues depicting the pharaoh nearby.

The Column Hall is most striking.Its columns are huge. Here you can also see a maze with sphinxes and statues of pharaohs.

This temple is a real work of art. If you want to learn about the history of Egypt, then you should definitely visit it. Of course, it's difficult to walk in the heat, but it's worth it. It's so old here that it's amazing to touch the stones themselves.
