Today I went from Gabtoli to Fuller Road, Dhaka University to meet one of my favorite teachers. Rafiqul Sir was my primary school teacher. He loved me from a young age and still does. The distance from Gabtali to Fuller Road is about 12 kilometers. You have to get on the Gabtali bus, get off the bus at Nilkhet and then take a rickshaw from there to Fuller Road. Because there is no bus on that road. And the rickshaw rent is 30 tk. I took a rickshaw because the bus does not run on that road. I took a lot of pictures from Gabtali bus terminal to Fuller Road. Such as the picture of Gabtali bus terminal, the minaret of Mirpur Shahi Mosque, then the picture of the street, the picture of the Independence Square of Fuller Road etc.
.Sculptor Shamim Sikder started building a huge sculpture called 'Amar Ekushey' in 1986 in an abandoned place in front of an old-fashioned bungalow style house (now Provisi building) on Fuller Road. It was inaugurated by the late Professor Ahmed Sharif in a domestic setting in February 1990. When the construction of the new building of Udayan School started at that place in 1997, the sculpture needed to be moved. The sculpture was brought to Road Island. Later, the sculptor Shamim Sikder changed and enlarged the sculpture under the name 'Swadhinata Sangram' and constructed it anew in the light of the history of the Liberation War. At the same time, he built the road island as he wished. It was inaugurated on March 7, 1999 by the then Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The Freedom Struggle Sculpture is the largest sculpture in Bangladesh containing the history of the glorious struggle of the Bengali nation. Shamim Sikder made this sculpture .
This is Gabtali Bus Terminal. From here buses can be found anywhere in Bangladesh.
I took this picture from the Kalyanpur Foot Over Bridge.
This is the minaret of Mirpur Shahi Mosque.
