Police have no legal obligation to protect you unless you are directly in their custody and even then they're rarely held accountable. Look into Warren v. DC and Castle Rock v. Gonzales. Even having a restraining order or being an informant doesn't grant you a right to police protection. That is why the 2nd amendment is so crucial. A coppers job is to enforce laws generally and generate revenue for the state. Protection from criminals is the duty of civilians.
