With Love and Devotion: A Painting of Masjid-e-Nabvi
Usually, I create paintings of nature and flowers. However, I have a habit of occasionally sharing drawings and paintings from different categories. This time, I decided to create an Islamic artwork. Initially, I thought of making an Arabic calligraphy painting, but suddenly, I had the idea to make a painting of Masjid Nabvi, including Roza-e-Rasool (S.A.W.).
I searched for some images on Google, selected one, and started painting. This scene is a soothing balm for the eyes of those who love the Prophet MUHAMMAD (S.A.W). My prayer is that every Muslim gets the opportunity to visit Roza-e-Rasool (S.A.W).
This image is quite old because it differs significantly from the scene I witnessed during my visit to Roza-e-Rasool in 2019. Notably, I saw automatic umbrellas in Masjid-e-Nabvi's courtyard then, which are absent in this picture. Nevertheless, my gaze settled on this very image, and I decided to share it through my artwork.
So Now, let's dive into short the details of each stage of this Painting, which I've documented through photos taken with my smartphone camera. I've used these tools to create this painting.
- Paper A.4 (White)
- Oil Pastel Colors
- Pencil
- Pencil Colors
- Blending Tool
- Scale
Firstly, I started drawing the scene of Masjid-e-Nabvi using a pencil and scale, focusing on the center of the page. The drawing included the courtyard's arches, the mosque's roof, and the Dome of the Prophet (Gumbad-e-Khizra) at the top.
Notably, I didn't use graphs or measurements to create this painting. Relying solely on my mental visualizations, I first sketched the entire scene with a pencil.
Next, I created the sky's landscape on the top portion of the page by filling in the first layer with orange, yellow, light blue, and dark blue color pencils. Then, I reapplied the same tones using pastel colors and blended all the colors to beautifully render the sky.
Simultaneously, I filled the inner side of the Dome with light green and dark green hues and mixed them well.
After that, I focused on the lower portion of the painting to depict Masjid Nabvi's floor. In the first layer, I lightly filled violet and gray colors and blended them. Simultaneously, I filled the mosque's minarets with light and dark gray pencil colors and outlined them with a pencil.
Wherever blending was necessary, I merged the colors. Next, in the second layer, I filled the floor with slightly darker tones of the same colors to achieve a marble-like appearance.
Additionally, I used certain colors to reflect the upper landscape of the painting onto the floor, creating a sense of depth.
After that, I focused on the painting's center, creating the scene of Masjid's gateways (doors) using light and dark brown colors. Following the same pattern, I blended them harmoniously. In The End, I added the finishing touches to various sections of the painting.
Typically, I complete a painting within one to two hours. However, this first-ever painting of mine took two days to finish. In my opinion, if I focused further on adding depth and intricacy, it could have taken another day or two.
I hope you enjoyed this painting.I eagerly look forward to reading your feedback and thoughts on my artwork. That's all for now. Goodbye.
