Eel pie island
I finally made it down to eel pie island which, is a secret London island that’s open to the public twice a year. The island had a club that was a major venue for jazz and blues in the 1960s. The island has also had a few really famous bands perform there including the Rolling Stones and pink Floyd. It is believed that the name originally came from the sale of eel pies on the island.
The island is full of artists and houses 26 artists’ studios on it. I am pretty sure you can access the island any time as I remember doing a photography job at the boating club absolutely years ago now but twice a year the artists open up their studios and hold art sales and they also have lots of live music going.
The island is full of shards of class and mannequins with plant pots as heads and just all around very quirky and so obviously the home of artists.
And my little video :
I saw the video, your smile is as beautiful as the place.
I wish you a happy start to the week
