The story of the beginning of the Aceh-Lamno mosque

From the Banda Aceh - Meulaboh crossing road, you can see the mosque tower standing firmly with the dominant white color. The white rectangular tower is adjacent to a towering blue dome. The blue of the sky and the hot atmosphere of the day in Aceh Jaya make the appearance of the mosque's dome emit sparkling reflections of light, making the mosque even more beautiful to look at at every angle.

To get to the mosque, we need to enter a village alley approximately 100 meters from the main road across Banda Aceh - Meulaboh. When we enter the mosque grounds, the beauty makes us amazed by the beauty of the Muslim house of worship. The outer building of the mosque is dominated by two colors, namely blue and white. This spacious and magnificent mosque is named the Baitussalam Nyak Sandang Mosque, which was inaugurated on March 26 2022.

Also seen downstairs was a man sitting in a wheelchair, his eyes were fixed on everyone who came, this man was Nyak Sandang. Yes, the establishment of the mosque in the middle of Gampong Lhuet village, Jaya (Lamno) District, Aceh Jaya Regency cannot be separated from the figure of Nyak Sandang. He was a figure who played an important role in the purchase of the Republic of Indonesia's first aircraft, as well as being the forerunner of the Garuda Indonesia Airways air fleet.

The presence of this mosque is history that proves the patriotism of the people of Aceh. History of the Nyak Sandang Mosque, known as the Baitussalam Nyak Sandang Mosque, was inaugurated on March 26 2022. This mosque was a gift from the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo or Jokowi to Nyak Sandang and the people of Aceh Jaya. Nyak Sandang is one of the Acehnese figures who has a bond to purchase the Seulawah 001 aircraft which supports Indonesian independence, as well as the forerunner to the Garuda Indonesia airline's air fleet.

The name of Nyak Sandang, who is now 95 years old, went viral in 2018, when he showed proof of bonds to collect money to buy Indonesia's first plane. Nyak Sandang has proof in the form of a bond or debt statement from the government issued in 1950 when his father Ibrahim and other Aceh residents handed over assistance to buy the Dakota RI-001 Seulawah aircraft, which was the forerunner to the establishment of the first commercial aviation company in Indonesia.

Nyak Sandang was then invited by President Jokowi to the State Palace in Jakarta. In a meeting with the Head of State, Nyak Sandang conveyed his request to the President. In front of Jokowi, Nyak Sandang also mentioned three requests.

*Second, leave for the Holy Land

*Third, build a mosque in his hometown, in Gampong Lhuet, Lamno, Aceh Jaya.

Together with their parents and all the residents, they gathered at the Lamno Mosque at around 11.00 WIB in 1948, the entire Lamno community poured into the mosque grounds. They gathered to welcome the arrival of the Governor of Aceh, Teungku Muhammad Daud Beureueh, warrior figures and the business community at the Aceh Hotel. The construction of the Nyak Sandang Lamno Mosque was a follow-up to President Joko Widodo's meeting with Nyak Sandang which took place in March 2018. During the meeting, Nyak Sandang expressed three requests to President Joko Widodo, namely eye surgery, Umrah and a mosque could be built in his hometown, Lamno, Aceh Jaya Regency.
