Making our own maple syrup from 3 Sugar Maple Trees ๐ ๐จ๐ฆ
We tapped 3 of our Sugar Maple Trees and have enough Maple sap to make about 1 litre of Maple Syrup. It takes 40 litres of Maple sap to make 1 litre.
Sap boils until it reaches the density of maple syrup. About 40 liters (10.5 gallons) of sap boil down to one liter (about . 25 gallons or one quart) of pure maple syrup.

So โฆ yeah, lots of sap.
The weather is getting good for the Maple runโฆ warm days (around 5 Celsius) and colder nights .. (around - 5 Celsius)
Have you ever made your own Maple Syrup ?
Yuuuu- um
This video shows our 1st attempt over an open fireโฆ boiled down about 4 cups sap to make approx. 1/10 cup of Maple Syrup
It also takes a lot of wood. No wonder Maple syrup is so expensive.

I've never tasted real maple syrup. I wonder if it is possible to pull off such a process with birch sap? :)
I think so ... but you must have lots of Maple Trees where you are. Pretty easy to tap a tree and give it a try.
In fact, we don't have many maples. It's mostly in the city. They were planted in parks. But in the city I don't take anything from the street, neither fruits, nor mushrooms, not the sap of trees. Ecology...
and how is maple sap extracted?
An incision is made, a groove and a collection container are placed?
You drill a 1/2โ hole into the tree about 4โ off the ground โฆ.
And insert one of these tapsโฆ and hang a bucket off the tap to catch the sap ..
It just drips slowly โฆ need perfect weather though โฆ + 5 Celsius during the day and -5 Celsius at night

I understood... it's pretty cruel to the tree.
Yeah. Same with anything we eatโฆ apples, carrots, peas, lettuce, tomatoes, cows, pigs we kill them all. ๐
Yes, this is how the food chain on earth works. Vegans also kill plants :-))
