Contest Alert !!! || "Social Evils And their Eradication"
It's quite unfortunate that we're living in times where there really is no fine line between good and evil. It has gotten to the point where we've seen these evil things happen so frequently that we are not appalled by them anymore, it's become a part of our everyday life.
Saw this contest some minutes ago and decided I had to hop on it before it ends because this contest serves as a reminder to both me and the other members of this community; a reminder that evil is something we have to first of all understand, before we can eradicate it.
What are the social evils that are spreading rapidly in your society?
I'll just talk about a few; Corruption, Prostitution, Cyber crimes, Gambling, and Discrimination Of Disabled People.
• Corruption: This is the greatest problem Nigerians are facing. It goes beyond corruption within the government. The citizens themselves have become corrupt in so many ways. Business men looking for ways to make excess profit, fuel stations using inaccurate meters, landlords increasing their rents for no just cause. Now it's clear corruption does not just involve politicians, it involves every single person in the society.

• Prostitution: Now this is something crazy that has suddenly become normal in Nigeria. This was supposed to be a crime but now it has become a well known source of income for young girls. Parading themselves as "hook up girls", young girls keep selling their body for money. In fact, at this point, it's difficult to find a young lady that has not had relations with any man.
• Cyber Crimes: Perpetrators of these crime are popularly called "yahoo boys". It's crazy how the society has turned fraud into hustling. Fraudsters and scammers are sadly no longer seen as criminals but as hardworking people.
• Gambling: This is yet again another social evil. Rebranded as "sports betting", youths and adults gamble openly now. Many have lost thousands and even millions due to this.
• Discrimination Of Disabled People: This is something I recently noticed and decided to talk about it. All in the name of dark memes or being savage, disabled people are scorned. Yes, it's that bad.
What are the reasons for it's spread?
• The number one cause of most of the bad things happening in Nigeria is the state of the country. The corruption of the politicians and some citizens has destroyed the economy thereby leading many people into
- Abject Poverty
- Unemployment
As a result of this, people do alot of bad things such as prostitution and gambling to get money to survive.
• Ignorance: Due to ignorance and illiteracy, many people have engaged in social evils.
• Greediness: The truth of the matter is, we always want more. The fact that people lack the important quality called contentment, they've gone ahead to do alot of evil things to gain more money.
What are it's effects on society and people?
• The increased level of cyber crime has caused countless individuals their hard earned money, subjecting them to abject poverty.
• The normalisation of gambling has resulted in students losing their school fees, parents losing their house rents, business people losing their business money, among many other damages. The pain of losing their bets have even claimed the lives of countless people.
• Due to prostitution, many ladies have contracted STDs and unwanted pregnancies.
• Many disabled people have lost hope in life, some even taking their lives due to the fact that they've been victims of harsh prejudice.
How can this evil be eliminated from your society?
• Education: Citizens should be sensitised on the dangers of engaging in these social evils.
• The government should try as much as possible to create jobs for the citizens.
• Youth empowerment: Youths should be taught high income skills so they can make a living by themselves as the government cannot provide jobs for everyone.
• Punishment Of Offenders: Those caught engaging in crimes should be punished severely to set an example for the other members of the society
These social evils have eaten deep into us. However, it's never too late to make a change. Parents, teach your children properly. Children, follow the instruction of your parents. Government offices, do your best to ensure the citizens are happy. We all have a part to play, let's play it well so as to create a liveable environment for our kids, the next generation.

Your post sheds light on the unfortunate prevalence of social evils in Nigeria. It's disheartening to see the impact on individuals and society. Your call for education, job creation, and youth empowerment is crucial for positive change. Let's work together to eliminate these issues and create a better future for the next generation. Thanks for sharing.

Your most welcome mate
I agree with the gambling problem especially in Nigeria, alot of people due to the hardships facing the country gamble in the hope of winning millions to solve their problems. As much as I wish they get their dream winnings but the loses have casus more harm than good to folks.
Likeeee, it really is getting out hand. Sadly, no one's trying to do anything about it.
