June 1, is the day where mama and my hubby was born. Yes, they both had the same birthdate.

And while we were asleep, around 5 in the morning, some of the ladies were having a mañanita.

What really is MAÑANITA?

Mañanita is an old tradition wherein you will surprise the celebrants through singing outside the house at dawn. It is a sign wherein you showed love to your brothers and sisters in Christ by remembering your birthday. In mañanita, since it is a surprise it is not necesary that you will prepare something. There goal is just to greet you. And having a breakfast after singing is a bonus already.

And the tradition of our church, when the celebrant already heard the voice of the singers, they will open the open and will let them come in. And thats the time we will be having a short thanksgiving. The first part is singing praises to God, let the celebrants and families give testimonies then word of God.

Since, we still had an ample of time to prepare for breakfast, we hurriedly prepare it. My papa cook his best recipe - the shrimp, my brother made a spaghetti, and I prepared the fruits and the table.

After 2 hours, the celebrants kneel down and was prayed by them. Afterwards, singing of birthday song is the next. Then all of us in the house were given the chance to hug and greet the birthday celebrants.

We then had our sumptous breakfast.
