The word "love" carries different meanings, no matter how we try to understand it. When we express genuine love, it comes with feelings of affection, care, and commitment. But when it's insincere, it's just deceitful. This is a major reason why people often get hurt in relationships.
Love comes in various forms – there's romantic love, which involves intense passion and sexual attachment between partners. Then there's family love – the love we share with our parents, siblings, and other family members. Strong family bonds can withstand the test of time.
Love can also be seen as self-love, unconditional love, and varying degrees of commitment. But no matter the form, love is always accompanied by empathy, commitment, openness, and emotional connectivity to ensure its authenticity.
One important thing to realize is that we can never love two people in exactly the same way, no matter how similar their impact is on us.

Definitely not! Saying "I love you" shouldn't be just because we feel comfortable around someone. Love actually allows us to feel comfortable around others, not the other way around. For instance, I might be at ease with a colleague because of his/her work ethic, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's love.
Love is something we choose and work on. We can't share love if we don't have it, and it's not something we stumble upon randomly. Love is all-encompassing and requires commitment.

When it comes to family and friends, love takes on a special meaning. We often feel a deeper connection with our family members compared to our friends. This is also evident in the sacrifices we are willing to make for each group. We tend to make more sacrifices for our families than for our friends, and the types of sacrifices we make differ between the two groups.
As a parent, I see myself making lifelong sacrifices to ensure the well-being of my family. It's our responsibility to provide for our children, and in many African households, we also support extended family members, in-laws, relatives, and friends. This can feel like a heavy burden at times, but it's all part of the sacrifice we make for our loved ones.

Just like I mentioned before, my family is everything to me. We share so much love and joy, it's like a beautiful dance. When they don't hear from me for a while, they start to worry, so I always make sure to keep them updated.
And when I come back home from work, they're jumping and screaming with joy. It's so heartwarming to see how much they love me, and I feel the same way about them.
