Lovely grass like shrub that’s called Panicum repens is a species of the grass known by many common names ranging from torpedograss, creeping panic, quack grass, panic rampant, couch panicum, dog-tooth grass & wainaku grass.
It can easily be identified as a perennial grassy soft weed with creeping, sharply pointed cool rhizomes.
Its stems are really stiff & vertically growing, its leaves are either folded or flat & hairy on uppermost surface.
The ligule of the outstanding lawn weed has a fringe of hairs on its uppermost margin.
