This species is a decomposer found in grassy areas, alone, scattered or in small groups. The fruiting bodies grow at night after a rain and self-digeste after the spores are dispersed. Otherwise, they dry out quickly in the morning sun, or eventually collapse from the weight of their hats. ^Source
