Aliyar Dam - the second largest reservoir in India and one of the biggest dam reservoirs in Asia. The dam is located at an altitude of 1,281 meters in Pollachi, a small town in Coimbatore District, Tamil Nadu, South India. It is 65 km from Coimbatore.
Aliyar Dam was constructed during 1959-1969 across the Aliyar river for irrigation purposes. Aliyar Reservoir (hydroelectric dam) has been built by Tamil Nadu Hydro Development Corporation Ltd (THDC).

This tranquil park is located on the southern slopes of the Western Ghats, just north of Pollachi. It is part of the Anaimalai Wildlife Sanctuary and is about 60 km from Coimbatore 39°53'9"N 79°44'0"E

The Solaiyar Dam is part of the Solaiyar Hydroelectric Project (HEP). The project comprises the main Soliayar Dam, the Solaiyar Flanking, and the Solaiyar Saddle Dam. It was designed by the Hyderabad-based Jalaram Ramchandra Tiwari.
