Future Smart Homes Modeling Human Activities

in Popular STEM3 years ago

In a recent announcement, Brain of Things, a company based in the United States, stated that it is developing "robot houses" apartment buildings.

There are a lot of sensors, automatic accessories, and other equipment in these flats. Furthermore, apartments have the scary capacity to learn about and adapt to the habits and tastes of the people who live in them, which is quite alarming. They are able to do so thanks to computer service providers who create models based on the actions of other people. Machine learning algorithms are used to create models of human behavior that are based on the data that has been gathered.

A large number of functions in the residences are controlled by computer. For example, you may set your curtains to open before you leave for work and close them whenever you want in the evening. It is likely that if you attempt to drink water late at night, you will notice that the areas you pass are poorly lighted. The apartments will open the curtains later on Sunday morning if you went to bed late on Saturday night or attended a party, for example.

There are around 20 motion sensors in each of the Brain of Things-designed homes. All of the lights, appliances, entertainment systems, heating and cooling systems, and plumbing systems are linked and automated throughout the building. In order to keep track of and feed the pets, an automated system has been put in place.

It's understandable that people might question why so much has to be automated and intelligent. It is undeniable, however, that a movement toward smarter houses is underway. According to Ashutosh Saxena, a Stanford University researcher and founder of Brain of Things, given that people touch switches on average 100 times each day, even to turn on and off the lights, the utility of smart systems is becoming more widely recognized.
