This outstanding plastic artist was born on January 12, 1856, in Florence (Italy), because his parents were passing through there. He inherited from them the American nationality. His artistic training was carried out in Rome, Florence and Paris.

In the judgment of many art critics, John Singer was the most successful portrait painter of his generation. His work was varied and prolific. It is estimated that he made 900 oil paintings and more than 2,000 watercolours. Countless sketches and charcoal drawings.

He belonged to the impressionist movement, his favorite genres being pictorial portraits, portraiture and landscape painting.

Singer was a highly cultured and cosmopolitan gentleman, an expert in art, music, and literature. He also spoke English, French, Italian and German.

He died on April 14, 1925, at the age of 69, in London.

Below we will present three of his works so that you can choose the one that most motivates you to write. The first is called: "Street in Venice" (1882), the second, "The Misses Vickers" (1884) and the last, "Paul Helleu drawing with his wife" (1887)
