Hi Friends,

"Euthanasia"

1000021241.png

Euthanasia means highlighting a death. Here, an extremely distressed person, with his consent, is put to death without further distress. There are different opinions about this in the society.

What is euthanasia?

Euthanasia is the killing of a person suffering from a life-threatening illness or other condition of his own free will. This is mainly divided into active and passive.

Active Euthanasia: Here, an action that prolongs the patient's life, for example, a drug or other method, is applied.

Passive Euthanasia: Here, the patient is killed by not giving the drugs or equipment needed to survive.

What medicine is used for this?

In the euthanasia process, sodium thiopental is used as an active ingredient. This is a strong Mandana sila or medicine that slows down the life processes. This drug is used in high doses to stop his body from functioning and cause death.

In performing the euthanasia procedure, sodium thiopental is first applied to make the patient sedated. Then, potassium chloride (Potassium Chloride) or another drug is applied, stopping the function of the heart and causing death.

Is euthanasia acceptable according to Buddhism?

Buddhism says that for every living being to lose a life, i.e. to be alive, is false. According to Panchasila (Pas Pannati), "Panatipatha Verani Seela" is an act of non-killing of a living being. Accordingly, according to Buddhism, euthanasia is considered wrong.

Is euthanasia acceptable according to Christianity?

According to the law of Christianity, "Though shall not kill", taking the life of any person is not allowed. Christianity says that life is a sacred quality received from God. Therefore, euthanasia is wrong according to Christianity.

What do I think about euthanasia?

I have mixed feelings about euthanasia. I think it is very sensitive to an action with the intention of death without illness or suffering. But, on the other hand, I feel sick about having the right to take someone's life. I believe euthanasia should be an individual right and decision.

Should this be legal in my country?

In my personal opinion, there are critical opinions about euthanasia being legal. In a religiously sensitive country like Sri Lanka, such a law will cause various reactions in the society. Before making such a decision, society's sentiments and religious opinions are necessary.

Have I ever tried euthanasia?

I have never encountered such a situation among our family or friends. But, if faced with such a situation, I would think about it with deep inquiry.

Conclusion

Euthanasia is a hotly debated topic. This is called differently in society or according to religion. Therefore, before deciding on euthanasia, each person should be considered with their own opinions, society, and religion.

An issue like euthanasia, when making personal and social decisions, requires humane sensitive inquiry and deep consideration. When we can, we must support the maintenance of one's rights and social standing, considering life and death.

Indeed it is true. All living beings who have set foot in this world have a definite journey and end for them. No person has the right to decide its end. We also do not have the right to decide whether it is right or wrong. Because we are neither God nor its patient. Thank you very much for your valuable response, as it has helped to encourage me.

Hello! @xpilar.wiitness

The subject you have brought up invites a very sensitive and deep discussion. Euthanasia, or euthanasia, can be defined as the act of deciding to end a person's suffering at the end of their life. While discussing this, all issues like humanity, law, religion and social values need to be considered deeply.

First, the big question is whether the individual has the right to make decisions about his life. Our Right to Sustain Life is a novel that deeply explores our psychological and human rights. However, euthanasia is a matter of challenging that right as it is a decision to end life.

Considering the subject matter of Sri Lanka, you should be aware that there is a special respect for life in our country's religious and cultural heritage. According to Buddhism, making end-of-life decisions involves great responsibility and deep inquiry. Therefore, there is usually a conflict of critical opinions about compassion in our society.

We appreciate your comments, especially your thoughtful consideration of the complexity and sensitivity of this issue. Before making such a decision either personally or within a family, it is essential to consider all the health, psychological and social implications.

I hope you never have to face such a difficult situation.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Your post shows how difficult is to jump to a conclusion about euthanasia. South Asia is too tied to their beliefs and I understand this topic is to hard to talk. Good luck.

That is true. Thank you for your reply.
