Concurso fotográfico T-2 E-53 Luces navideñas - Christmas Lights
I took this photo in Catania, Italy, about ten days ago. I was strolling through the city, soaking in the Christmas spirit of Sicily - especially of Catania since during my previous visits, I mostly stayed outside the city and didn’t give this wonderful place the attention it deserves. This Christmas tree caught my eye as I strolled near the central square, where there’s also a Christmas market - one of many scattered throughout the city at this time of year. I stopped to admire it not just because of the lights but also because of the giant star positioned on it. Since stars are traditionally placed at the very top, I found this placement even more appealing - it breaks stereotypes and offers a fresh, unique take on decorating a Christmas tree. And those lights - they’re always captivating, no matter your age. They simply draw you in like a magnet, whispering, "Smile and enjoy life, here and now!" As with most of us, I imagine, they evoke a sense of magic, helping us forget the gray routine and monotony we move through - things that, like it or not, are part of life. I chose this particular photo because, beyond its sparkle, it carries a sense of motion and life. It transports me to a world of wonder, of childhood, and carefree moments, where life was all about play, and you looked at the world with wide-open eyes, excited by everything new you learned and discovered. A world free of vanity, filled only with warmth and coziness.
I’m adding links to my previous posts so you can take a little journey into the Christmas wonder of Sicily. Enjoy!
