BITTERNESS
If you choose not to forgive the people who have offended you, you are only multiplying your suffering in the light of the fact that the person who offended you is going on with his or her life yet you are punishing yourself spiritually.
It can just be likened to stopping your car to rant at a fellow who sped past your car at a traffic light. The only thing you are doing is that you are delaying yourself further.
I quickly forgive the people who offend me because I do not want to get myself into trouble. I can't permit bitterness to disconnect me from God. Unforgiveness can defile you and can even lead to some very dangerous sicknesses too.
There was a man who was swollen without knowing the cause. The doctors tried their best but couldn't find anything wrong, so he came to the Church. God revealed that the man had to forgive someone who offended him which was his son-in-law.
When the man was going to give out his daughter in marriage, he made the husband promise to take good care of his daughter.
Unfortunately, the young man began beating his wife. Her father pleaded with him to stop his wicked way but things only got worse. One day, the young fired a gun at his wife but luckily for the wife, he missed narrowly.
That was when the man asked his daughter to leave this man's house to spare his daughter's life; however he swore to never forgive the man and to deal with him.
The man the was swollen was told that he had to forgive.
The man went because the man wanted to be healed and as he reached his son-in-law’s house, the son-in-law tried to escape.
The man however said to the man that he had not come to contend with you, that he had come to ask for forgiveness because he had forgiven him and also want him also do the same.
As they hugged and wept, the man who had been swollen without a cause suddenly decrease in size so much so that his wedding ring dropped from his finger to the ground. The man was healed. Make sure you forgive so that you can be free.
