Psalm 91

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High
[a]Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of Jehovah, He is my refuge and my fortress;
My God, in whom I trust.
3 For he will deliver thee from the snare of the fowler,
And from the deadly pestilence.
4 He will cover thee with his pinions,
And under his wings shalt thou take refuge:
His truth is a shield and a buckler.
5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night,
Nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
6 For the pestilence that walketh in darkness,
Nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
7 A thousand shall fall at thy side,
And ten thousand at thy right hand;
But it shall not come nigh thee.

8 Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold,
And see the reward of the wicked.
9 [b]For thou, O Jehovah, art my refuge!
Thou hast made the Most High thy habitation;
10 There shall no evil befall thee,
Neither shall any plague come nigh thy tent.
11 For he will give his angels charge over thee,
To keep thee in all thy ways.
12 They shall bear thee up in their hands,
Lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
13 Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder:

    Some biblical commentators argue that Psalm 91 was most likely written in times of the plague epidemic (2 Samuel 24:13). The psalmist narrates through metaphors and descriptive expressions of divine reality, what God is and should be for us, what God does for us and what we must always respond to or say to God, even when we are in the midst of life. proof.     Fundamentally, God, in the voice of the psalmist, invites us to trust him fully, not to fear, to persevere in faith and hope, welcoming him as God, trusting in his Divine plan and in his Divine providence. . This does not mean that we are not going to suffer any evil in life, it means rather that in the midst of the test we should not lose heart or despair or deny God (Job 1, 9), on the contrary, trusting in Him and full of His peace and His love, we will be able to persevere to win.

    In the context of the current health situation, Psalm 91, with a powerful and current voice, comes to remind us that we must fully trust and abandon ourselves in God, in his Divine plan and providence, welcoming him; recognizing him as our Lord and Savior (Rm 10, 9) and following his precepts in everything (Mt 22, 37-38). Thus, our soul strengthened in Him, free from fear and ready for action, will be able to persevere and to overcome in this time of trial. Salmo 91
