Let not kindness and truth forsake thee: Bind them about thy neck; Write them upon the tablet of thy heart: So shalt thou find favor and [b]good understanding In the sight of God and man. (Proverbs 3, 3-4)

    In the midst of adverse circumstances this principle of wisdom is put to the test. At all times, but even more so in the crucible of difficulty, the believer must be able to act with love, truth and fidelity to God and to his precepts. Both the merciful attitude and the truth and fidelity find their reason for being and sustenance in two essential maxims for the Christian life; You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind; and you will love your neighbor as yourself (Mt 22, 37-39). These two commandments are undoubtedly the sustenance of the Law and the prophets (Mt 22, 40), and at the same time these last two are summarized in these commandments.

    In the Old Testament it was said "...saith Jehovah: I will put my law in their inward parts, and in their heart will I write it; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people" (Jeremiah 31, 33). Today this is a reality for Christ's sake, for He revealed the truth to us; He did not come to write the law on tables of stone, He, who is greater than Moses and all the prophets together, came to write it on hearts; Christ reveals to us that this wonder is only possible because of the love of God and neighbor. Whoever truly loves God and neighbor cannot do what goes against the Law and the prophets, therefore he will respect it out of love, and he will keep it in his heart out of love.

    Let us therefore follow in everything the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ, Let us love God and our neighbor even in the most difficult circumstances, thus we will keep the Law in our hearts and we will find grace and good opinion before God and before men of good will.

    May the Holy Spirit inspire in us all the good that comes from Him. Amen.

Nunca se aparten de ti la misericordia y la verdad; Atalas a tu cuello, escríbelas en la tabla de tu corazón. Y hallarás gracia y buena opinión ante los ojos de Dios y de los hombres. (Proverbios 3, 3-4)

    En medio de circunstancias adversas este principio de sabiduría se pone a prueba. En todo momento pero más aun en el crisol de la dificultad, el creyente debe ser capaz de actuar con amor, con verdad y con fidelidad a Dios y a Sus preceptos. Tanto la actitud misericordiosa como la verdad y fidelidad, encuentran su razón de ser y sustento en dos máximas esenciales para la vida cristiana; Amarás al Señor tu Dios con todo tu corazón, y con toda tu alma, y con toda tu mente; y amarás a tu prójimo como a ti mismo (Mt 22, 37-39). Estos dos mandamientos son sin duda, el sustento de la Ley y los profetas (Mt 22, 40), y a la vez estos dos últimos, se resumen en dichos mandamientos.

    En el Antiguo Testamento se dijo "...Dice Jehová: Daré mi ley en su mente, y la escribiré en su corazón; y yo seré a ellos por Dios, y ellos me serán por pueblo" (Jeremías 31, 33). Hoy esto es realidad por causa de Cristo, pues Él nos reveló la verdad; Él no vino a escribir la ley en tablas de piedra, Él, que es más grande que Moisés y todos los profetas juntos, vino a escribirla en los corazones; Cristo nos revela que este prodigio sólo es posible por causa del amor a Dios y al prójimo. Quien ama verdaderamente a Dios y al prójimo no puede hacer lo que va en contra de la Ley y de los profetas, por tanto la respetará por amor, y la guardará en su corazón por amor.

    Sigamos pues en todo, las enseñanzas de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, Amemos a Dios y al prójimo aun en las circunstancias más difíciles, así guardaremos en nuestro corazón la Ley y hallaremos gracia y buena opinión ante Dios y ante los hombres de buena voluntad.

    Que el Espíritu Santo inspire en nosotros todo lo bueno que de Él procede. Amén.
