In the midst of so much evil and injustice, it is easy to fall into the bias of judging everything with a negative tone. This pessimistic way of seeing and understanding reality can make invisible, even before our eyes, the good that exists and that so many good people practice. Let's see what the Lord tells us on this subject through one of the apostle Paul's letters:

"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are [c]honorable, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are [d]of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, [e]think on these things. The things which ye both learned and received and heard and saw in me, these things do: and the God of peace shall be with you." (Philippians 4, 8-9)

    This Word invites us to scrutinize things with eyes wide open to be able to see also the good that surrounds us, and more, that we pay our attention above all to what is good, and learn from it, because God speaks to many of us. ways, through the Holy Scriptures, Yes, but also through others. How many God-inspired men and women are out there doing good, doing God's work? A lots of! Well, we have to think about those when we are discouraged by the evil that surrounds us and that tries to make us give up. Wherever we are; let's take the good, let's imitate the good that others do, let's imitate and follow Jesus Christ; Our Lord, Divine teacher.

    May the Holy Spirit pour out his joy, his peace and his love on us. Amen.

SPANISH VERSION

    En medio de tanta maldad e injusticias, es fácil caer en el sesgo de juzgarlo todo con un tono negativo. Esta manera pesimista de ver y de comprender la realidad, puede hacer invisible, aunque esté delante de nuestros ojos, el bien que existe y que tanta gente buena practica. Veamos que nos dice el Señor sobre este tema a través de una de las cartas del apóstol Pablo:

"Por lo demás, hermanos, todo lo que es verdadero, todo lo honesto, todo lo justo, todo lo puro, todo lo amable, todo lo que es de buen nombre; si hay virtud alguna, si algo digno de alabanza, en esto pensad. Lo que aprendisteis y recibisteis y oísteis y visteis en mí, esto haced; y el Dios de paz estará con vosotros." (Filipenses 4, 8-9)

    Esta Palabra nos invita a escrutar las cosas con los ojos bien abiertos para ser capaces de ver también el bien que nos rodea, y más, que pongamos nuestra atención sobretodo en lo que es bueno, y aprender de ello, porque Dios nos habla de muchas maneras, por las Sagradas Escrituras, Si, pero también a través de los demás. ¿Cuantos hombres y mujeres inspirados por Dios andan por ahí haciendo el bien, llevando a cabo la obra de Dios? ¡Muchos! Pues en esos tenemos que pensar cuando estemos desanimados por la maldad que nos rodea y que intenta hacernos desistir. En donde sea que nos encontremos; tomemos lo bueno, imitemos el bien que otros hacen, imitemos y sigamos a Jesucristo; Señor nuestro, Divino maestro.

    Que el Espíritu Santo derrame sobre nosotros Su alegría, Su paz y Su amor. Amén.
