New covenant instituted by Jesus Christ
Mark 14:23-24 KJV
[23] And he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them: and they all drank of it. [24] And he said unto them, This is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many.
Hebrews 8:6-7 KJV
[6] But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises. [7] For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.
In geometry, we define a circle as a set of points set at a distance from the centre in a plane. Even though we can see the drawing of a circle and observe objects that are circular in shape, they are not true circles. The points that make up a circle are small and have no width, height, or depth. In truth, a circle would be imperceptible to the naked eye. What we actually see are mere representations of an ideal concept.
Just like the drawing represent the ideal concept, so was the old covenant temporary arrangement made until the time for the ideal and lasting covenant to be instituted by the Lord Jesus Christ.
The old covenant was faulty and as a result of the fault found in the old covenant, the new covenant was instituted. The old covenant was fault not because of the laws themselves but because people were unable to keep to the laws. If God had not provided a way for us in Jesus Christ, imagine what we would have to go through. Jesus instituted the new covenant as the Mediator which is superior to the formal one.
This new covenant was founded on better promises. Israelites were told by God that the laws will be in their minds, and they will be written on their hearts. He promised them that He will be their God and they will be His people. They will know the Lord and also receive forgiveness (Hebrew 8:10-12).
Hebrews 8:10-12 KJV
[10] For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: [11] And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. [12] For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.
One needs to identify with Jesus Christ as Mediator and build a good relationship with Him in order to enjoy all these promises. You will become better in your fellowship with Christ as you communicate more with God in your daily walk and quiet time. Anybody that talks to God stays with God.
I am putting out this question to you today, have you received Jesus Christ into your life as the true mediator?
Build right and consistent relationship with God and your family member.
I pray that God will make us a better and fruitful Christians in Jesus Name. Amen
