If we want to briefly describe what Mentoring is, we can define it as a personal learning process where we ourselves take responsibility for growing personally and professionally.

Human beings by nature will need someone who listens to us or motivates us to discover our talents and demonstrate with their example how to move forward. Well, this work is called Mentoring today. It consists of a Mentor with a lot of experience in some area or many areas which he uses to enrich his students and discover his skills and strengths so that they develop these and reach their full potential. Researching this concept I found that its origins are based on Greek mythology. This is because Méntor was the close friend of Ulysses, who was the protagonist of the Odyssey written by Homer. Just before Ulysses left for Troy, he asked Méntor to prepare his young son named Telemaco for him who will impersonate him as king of Itaca. Méntor was forced to perform various functions, such as that of father, teacher, role model, affordable and reliable counselor, inspiring and stimulator of challenges in a way that Telemaco would become a very wise, good and sensible king.

If we take him to the spiritual plane we will find no better Mentor, teacher and counselor than Jesus, certainly a leader in social relations, who left his teachings to the disciples and even today continues to expand his powerful vision of the gospel. Today mentoring has become fashionable however it can be narrowed that this is a very old practice.

Mentoring has mainly three dimensions.

1.-Emotional. Strengthens psychological resources that enhance well-being.
2.-Intellectual. It emphasizes increasing knowledge from the transmission of experience.
3.-Social. It consists of introducing the apprentice to a network of relationships that may be important for their development.

AlwaysWe've always observedas some topics become fashionable, however mentoring has transcended the boundaries of fashion and is a very important management and human issue that is being applied in companies to enhance people's talent.
