The events that I will relate in the next few minutes arose from real events, where my clumsy imagination will make the attempt to illustrate this facet of truth, any coincidence with reality could be attributed to an intentional coincidence or a small reason trying to be big enough to show us something very valuable and important. Curiously, this aspect of truth no one can take the authorship, much less the ability to perform it. This complicated task can only be accomplished by the knight of the cross, the only begotten of God. No one else is able to do it, no one else can have such a profile, these high moral requirements are not within our reach, only the son of God can perform this work and he does it precisely from grace and forgiveness.

So you found out that all your friends slandered you? slandered you by accusing you without the right to defend yourself? The whole audience in suspense and with their eyes fixed on the shy man being interviewed. He lowered his face and with some embarrassment again said yes.

The commentator, surprised by the tragic story, asks him another question to inquire more about the matter. And what do you think of all of them Luis, do you think they were unfair to you? The question itself was the perfect excuse for Luis to present his case masterfully, he had all the chances to win and even more if he had the support of the audience that was tuned into the program at that moment. An opportunity that he did not miss! He is armed with courage because he already has all his arguments ready to shoot, he has everything clear, he was the victim and the victimizers must be judged, Luis must exercise his right and believes he is right to now be the one to judge his detractors, they deserve to be seated in the chair that all the guilty ones occupy and where poor Luis was once unfairly seated.

The host observes the sign that one of the producers of the program makes to him, he understands that it is time to make the next guest come in to see what he offers to this forum and above all to the tragic story of Luis.

Our next guest held an important position in one of the most recognized tax offices in Israel, his work as a tax collector earned the contempt of many and the affection of few, he currently exercises other functions in his life, "the calling" as he usually says. The people applaud as the Apostle Matthew, a short man with a long beard, glasses and already a little bald with age, shakes hands with the host of the program and sits down, takes a look at the whole stage because he had never seen so many cameras and lights in his life. They make a brief summary of the tragic story of our friend Luis, Mateo respectfully interrupts and clarifies that he heard everything in detail while drinking coffee behind the camera, the audience laughs because he finds it funny that the apostle says these things live and direct, apparently he is not very familiar with how guests should behave in a prestigious program like this.

Then, the host of the program with his gallant posture and his overconfidence asks the apostle Matthew saying; What do you suggest in this unfair case, they should all be taught a good lesson? What do you think of all these people?

The apostle responds by saying: My opinion is the least important thing (he pauses, thinks for a few seconds) and continues... in fact what everyone present might think would be irrelevant, including Luis, (the apostle looks at him with a tender look and smiles). Both the audience and the conductor were perplexed by such an answer, the auditorium in total silence, no one has in his head such a spacious closet where to hang such a thought. St. Matthew continues...here what really matters is what God thinks. He took out of his pocket a small New Testament and read.

Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you. Matthew 7: 1-2

He observes the faces of the public, murmurs are heard among some, however, Mateo smiles again with the same tender look and looks for another verse, this time he reads it with a slightly broken voice and with some tears in his eyes because some memories of when he was disowned and judged by his own people as a tax collector crossed his mind.

Judge not, and ye shall not be judged; condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned; forgive, and ye shall be forgiven. Luke 6: 37

The silence was interrupted by a malnourished and lonely applause from the cleaning lady, who had been a believer for some years. When she realized that no one had accompanied her, she decided to continue her cleaning work behind the camera as if nothing had happened.

The moved apostle raises his finger as a sign to be allowed to read a last fragment of that little new testament. He wipes his tears a little, looks up Romans 2: 1, the verse with which we started at the beginning of this plot, reads for the whole audience including all of us what we are reading these lines and tells us:

Therefore you are without excuse, O man, whoever you are who judge, for in judging another you condemn yourself, for you who judge practice the same things. Romans 2: 1

Whatever our opinion or criterion regarding this fictitious script can be accepted, in fact, the plot can even be questioned, but never the words of Matthew. Every verse read by the apostle hits the exact point where all our excuses collapse. No matter how unjust they have been to us or how capable and self-sufficient we consider ourselves to be. No one has the right or the capacity to condemn and judge. God warns us of the consequences and the predicament of those who decide to take judgment on their own. Many times we do not like to deal with our own mistakes, concentrating on the faults of others, perhaps deep down we understand that we are not so bad as long as someone worse can be found, without realizing it we become a constant policeman and willing to fine anyone to clean up their act, many times we believe we also have the right to judge our detractors, but God in his grace and mercy prescribes us the same medicine, the same liberating formula for these evils.

Por lo cual no tienes excusa, oh hombre, quien quiera que seas tú que juzgas, pues al juzgar a otro, a ti mismo te condenas, porque tú que juzgas practicas las mismas cosas. Romanos 2: 1

Los acontecimientos que les relatare en los próximos minutos surgió de hechos reales, donde mi torpe imaginación hará el intento por ilustrar esta faceta de la verdad, cualquier coincidencia con la realidad se la podríamos adjudicar a una intencional casualidad o a una pequeña razón intentando ser lo suficientemente grande para mostrarnos algo muy valioso e importante. Curiosamente este aspecto de la verdad nadie puede tomarse la autoría ni mucho menos la capacidad de desempeñarla. Esta complicada labor solo puede ser cumplida por el caballero de la cruz, el unigénito de Dios. Nadie más está en capacidad de hacerlo, nadie más puede tener tal perfil, estos altos requisitos morales no están a nuestro alcance, solo el hijo de Dios puede ejercer esta labor y la desempeña precisamente desde la gracia y el perdón.

Transmisión en vivo y directo.

¿Entonces descubriste que todos tus amigos levantaron calumnias en contra de ti? ¿te difamaron acusándote sin derecho a defenderte? Todo el público en suspenso y con la mirada fija en el tímido hombre entrevistado. Este bajando el rostro y con cierta vergüenza asegura nuevamente que sí.

El comentarista sorprendido de la trágica historia le formula nuevamente otra pregunta para indagar más sobre el asunto. ¿Y qué piensas de todos ellos Luis, crees que fueron injustos contigo? La pregunta de por sí era la excusa perfecta para que Luis pudiera exponer su caso magistralmente, tenía todas las de ganar y aún más si contaba con el apoyo del público que sintonizaban el programa en ese momento. Oportunidad que ¡no desaprovechó! El se arma de valor pues ya tiene todos sus argumentos listos a disparar, tiene todo claro, él fue la víctima y se debe juzgar a los victimarios, Luis debe ejercer su derecho y cree tener la razón para ahora ser él quien juzgue a sus detractores, éstos merecen ser sentado en la silla que ocupan todos los culpables y donde alguna vez de manera injusta sentaron al pobre Luis.

El animador observa la seña que le hace uno de los productores del programa, entiende que es hora de hacer pasar al próximo invitado para ver que ofrece ante este foro y sobre todo ante la trágica historia de Luis.

Nuestro próximo invitado desempeñaba un importante cargo en unas de las oficinas tributarias más reconocidas en Israel, su labor como recaudador de impuesto se ganó el desprecio de muchos y el cariño de pocos, actualmente ejerce otras funciones en su vida, “el llamamiento” como él suele decir. Por favor recibamos con un fuerte aplauso al teólogo, escritor y erudito Apóstol San Mateo.

La gente aplaude mientras pasa el apóstol Mateo, un hombre bajito con una barba larga, con lentes y ya un poco calvo por la edad, saluda con un estrechón de mano al conductor del programa y se sienta, echa un vistazo de todo el escenario pues nunca había visto en su vida tantas cámaras y luces. Le hacen un breve resumen de la trágica historia de nuestro amigo Luis, Mateo interrumpe respetuosamente y aclara que escuchó todo con detalle mientras tomaba un café tras cámara, el Público ríe pues le parece gracioso que el apóstol diga esas cosas en vivo y directo, al parecer no está muy familiarizado en cómo se deben comportar los invitados en un programa de prestigio como este.

A continuación, el conductor del programa con su postura de galán y su exceso de confianza le pregunta al apóstol Mateo diciendo; ¿Qué sugieres en este caso tan injusto, todos ellos deben recibir una buena lección? ¿Qué opinas tú de toda esta gente?

El apóstol responde diciendo: Mi opinión es lo que menos importa (hace una pausa, piensa por unos segundos) y continúa… de hecho lo que todos los presentes puedan pensar sería irrelevante, incluyendo a Luis, (el apóstol lo mira con una tierna mirada y sonríe). Tanto la audiencia como el conductor quedaron perplejo ante tal respuesta, el auditorio en total silencio, nadie tiene en su cabeza un armario tan espacioso donde colgar tal pensamiento. Continua San Mateo…aquí lo que realmente importa es lo que Dios piensa. Saca de su bolsillo un pequeño nuevo testamento y lee.

No juzguéis para que no seáis juzgado. Porque con el juicio con que juzguéis, seréis juzgados; y con la medida con que midáis, se os medirá. Mateo 7: 1-2

Observa la cara del público, se escuchan murmullos entre algunos, no obstante, Mateo vuelve a sonreír con la misma mirada tierna y busca otro versículo, en esta oportunidad lo lee con una voz un poco quebrantada y con algo de lágrimas en los ojos pues se le cruzaron algunos recuerdos de cuando era repudiado y juzgado por su propio pueblo al ser recaudador de impuesto.

No juzguéis, y no seréis juzgados; no condenéis, y no seréis condenados; perdonad y seréis perdonados. Lucas 6: 37

El silencio fue interrumpido por un desnutrido y solitario aplauso de la señora de limpieza pues era creyente desde hace algunos años, al percatarse de que nadie la acompañó decide seguir su labor de limpieza tras cámara como si nada hubiese pasado.

El conmovido apóstol levanta el dedo en señal que se le permita leer un último fragmento de aquel pequeño nuevo testamento. Se seca un poco sus lágrimas busca Romanos 2: 1 el versículo con que empezamos al inicio de esta trama, lee para toda la audiencia incluyendo a todos nosotros lo que estamos leyendo estas líneas y nos dice:

Por lo cual no tienes excusa, oh hombre, quien quiera que seas tú que juzgas, pues al juzgar a otro, a ti mismo te condenas, porque tú que juzgas practicas las mismas cosas. Romanos 2: 1

Fin de la Función.

Cualquiera que sea nuestra opinión o criterio en cuanto a este libreto ficticio puede ser aceptada, de hecho, la trama hasta puede ser cuestionada pero jamás las palabras de Mateo. Cada versículo leído por el apóstol da en el punto exacto donde se derrumban todas nuestras excusas. Por muy injustos que hayan sido con nosotros o por muy capaces y autosuficientes que nos consideremos. Nadie tiene el derecho ni está en la capacidad de condenar y juzgar. Dios nos advierte las consecuencias y el aprieto de quienes decidan tomar juicio por sí solos. Muchas veces no nos gusta lidiar con nuestros propios errores concentrándonos así en las faltas de los demás, quizás en el fondo entendamos que no somos tan malos siempre que se pueda hallar alguien peor, sin darnos cuenta nos volvemos un policía constante y dispuesto a multar a cualquiera para que limpie su andar, muchas veces creemos tener el derecho también de juzgar a nuestros detractores, pero Dios en su gracia y misericordia nos receta la misma medicina, la misma fórmula liberadora para estos males.
