YOUR PURPOSE AND YOUR WORTH

When men began to run after Jesus Christ, the bible recorded that He withdrew himself to the mountains to pray, And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man. John 2:25

Your purpose determines your focus. It determines your direction. Your purpose determines your reason for living! Everyone born on this planet earth is gifted in one way or the other. It is now left for the gift carrier to discover, fan aflame and make impacts with the God given gift.

When men began to populate the earth, it is recorded that the time came for the forth coming of the messiah, and as stated in the scriptures, he came through a virgin. But my observation is that when the child Jesus began to grow, he was able to easily identify his God given purpose. Hence, Know ye not that I must be about my father’s business? ^{Luke 2:49} said he. He was able to discover the star that the wise men sought for at the time of his birth.

This clearly depicts that it is of the Lord to download you with gifts, but it is of you to discover it, make use of it and possibly make merchandise with the talents in you – if it so requires.

¹⁵ And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey. Matthew 25:15

As stated in the bible about the master who bestowed gifts on his three servants, it shows clearly that everyone is to explore options in discovering these gifts. That was why the master said “know not ye that I must be at my father’s business?” because he has discovered his purpose and was on the track to fulfilling it starting at a very early age. Hear what this great man who walked the face of the earth said:

The greatest tragedy in life is a life without a purpose! Dr. Myles Munroe

Life is not dependent on how long you live but how impactful your few years were. And to do that, you must note that your impact is fully dependent on the discovery of your purpose.

¹⁶ Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents. ¹⁷ And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two. ¹⁸ But he that had received one went and dug in the earth, and hid his lord's money… Matthew 25:16-18

²⁶ His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed: ²⁷ Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury. ²⁸ Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents. Matthew 25:26-28

God has loaded you with great gifts and talents. I advise you to discover them, fan them aflame and make impacts in your generation with it. Do not hide your gifts like the unprofitable servant in the passage.

Ask yourself this question: what is my purpose? Get the answer to it, and work towards it. Because, YOUR PURPOSE DETERMINES YOUR WORTH on the earth!
