The voting window refers to the period during which a post created by any author can be curated by curators by upvoting or downvoting the content. Grossly speaking, there is a curation window of 7 days. But as we go deep into the subject, we will get to know that the rewards deplete if the vote is cast before 5 minutes and after 7 days and 12 hours of posting on Steemit. So technically there is a curation window of 5 min to 6 days and 12 hours.

Yes indeed the voting window is a period of time when curation and receiving of votes whether upvotes or downvotes is officially and legally permitted, receiving or giving vote by this time is the best because otherwise it will just return to the reward pool which is not supposed to be because it's not what the curators initial wished when developing Steemit.
