Greetings everyone I am delighted to share with everyone in this great community yet another homework task post for this season crypto academy. This happens to be the task 9 of the beginner's homework post for this season crypto academy. I am therefore grateful to our professor in the person of @sapwood for this wonderful lesson put together. I will therefore move ahead to make my homework entry based on the questions asked by our professor.
(1) How do you store/secure your keys? What are the different forms of Private Key(Examples/Screenshot)? Download & Install TronLink Wallet(Android/iOS/Extension)? How do you store the key(Hint- write it down on a notepad, demonstrate it with examples)? Which form of the key are you comfortable with to handle your TronLink Wallet? Include Screenshots & hide/blur the sensitive information.
The security of our keys is very important since it keep save our holdings in the crypto world. That is, these keys enable as to be able to make transactions very save without any hindrance from middlemen or intermediaries.
We have two keys that are been used in the governance of holdings in our various crypto wallets. These are, the Private keys and the of the Public Keys.
This key is a very delicate key and should be kept private from anyone apart from the real owner of it. This key is used in the signing of transactions and also making verifications of transactions been made. This key is delicate in a sense that, when the user losses this key, all holdings of the particular user are been lost and nothing can be done for that matter t needs to kept with care along side kept private.
This key type is more less like an address for making of transactions. That is, this key is used for the receiving of either crypto been sent by people or other users. Therefore this particular key can be shared with other people since there is no harm in doing so.
With the understanding of the Key types we have, there is a need to keep them save and secure them from hackers or fraudsters. For that matter, I make sure these keys are at an outreach from individuals in a sense that, there is no way or situation one can get a hold of even a view of it. I have kept these keys saved on my memo of my mobile phone which happens to operate with iCloud for that matter is is saved in my device and can be retrieved even if I misplace the phone. I have also saved it in person diary which can be reached out to only me. My starred emails on my Gmail also has a copy of these keys so I can be able to access it anytime I am with my mobile phone.
The Private key as I stated earlier is a delicate key or password which should be kept private from anyone and to be stored or saved at location which is an outright for individuals. This key serves are the gateway to making verifications of transactions made by users and also verification of these transactions. It is in the form of numbers and letters put together just like the Hash type. This key if lost will cause more havoc to the owner or the since it cannot be retrieved. There some forms of Private Key which I will explore below.
This is one form of the Private key that appears or that is in the form of only words. That is, this private key contains words which are all in lowercases and not uppercase. These words take the place of certain numbers. The words makes users to be able to have the private key in their memories unlike trying to memorize numbers. The words are arranged in a specified manner in such a way that they all have meaning and represent certain numbers which are used by the wallet. The criteria used for this private key type is the Mnemotecnia. This key type is therefore a word like private key.
with this form of Private key, we have it to be in form where by there are encrypted keys found in a file and been saved in a specific device. This private key form is simply the combination of the owner passwords. That is, the private key of the user and other keys of the user which are all been saved on a particular location. This file is called the JSON file which is and acronym for Java script object notation.
- With the help of this Link, I will make a visit to the website so as to download the TronLink wallet. Click on the tap labeled Browser extension.
- From the menu that opens, Click on the Add to chrome tap.
*The extension has been successfully added to my browser chrome.
- Moving further, we need to make a login to the wallet so I need to put in a password for me to be to continue the process.
- I have a TronLink account which is already in existence for that matter I will only have to make a restore of it so I click on Restore.
- A name is chosen for the TronLink account extension.
- Moving further, The Private key option is also chosen to continue the process.
- The Private key is then entered for continuing process.
- It can be seen the process has ended and MY TronLink wallet can be seen.
The storage of my Private key for the TronLink wallet is been done is so many ways. I save it both digitally and that of manually. I make sure it saved in the iCloud of my phone and also the notes of my Phone. I also make sure I write done physically but do sometimes have challenges with the words. So I prefer it been saved on my device iCloud. The device iCloud is very save in such way that even if the phone is missing I will still have the saved keys when logged in another mobile. I will therefore show a demonstration on hoe physically I write it in my dairy.
When logging into my TronLink wallet, I was asked which key form will I be using in which I made a selection of the Private key option. This is because, I am very much comfortable with the for of the key since it is very simply to handle and also hide from others. This form of the key comes in form of numbers and letters that are very simply to make a copy of them and then pasting them simply to login into the wallet. I therefore very comfortable with it. I made a save of it my starred messages on my email therefore giving me the opportunity to access it anywhere and anytime.
IN conclusion, the private and public keys are very useful in the blockchain sine they are used for the verification and validation of various transactions that do take place in the network. The private key should be kept very private from others but in a very safe location at the outreach of individuals.
