Crypto Academy Week 6 Homework Post for @yohan2on - Tether (USDT)
Hello Stemians!!
This time I want to make an article that answers the homework for this week made by one of the professors at Crypto Academy @yohan2on, as for the questions from the homework given is to Explaining one of the stablecoins that you must have heard often, namely Tether (USDT)
TETHER (USDT)
As I explained earlier, Tether (USDT) is a Stablecoin that has a working system that maintains its value at 1 US dollar. This can happen because USDT is guaranteed by several fiat assets, including the US dollar. So USDT is able to maintain its value according to the purpose for which this coin was designed, which is to have a 1: 1 ratio to the US dollar.
At the start of its launch in 2014, USDT used the Omni Foundation's Omni layer protocol, and the name Tether was originally launched as "Mastercoin", but Mastercoin was not so popular that at the end of 2014 the Masterscoin developers made extensive changes to the system and changed it. Mastercoin name becomes Tether (USDT).
Now we can easily get these stablecoins at any exchange, and we can have them without having to pay high-interest costs on shipping. We can also maintain the stability of our other crypto assets if we are not in the mood to trade.
HOW IS USDT NOW?
While looking for articles to learn about the Tether coin, I was surprised by the fact that Tether has now entered the top 5 cryptocurrencies worldwide.
At first, I really didn't believe, how could a very new coin be able to penetrate the top 5 cryptocurrency rankings in the world, where we now know that there are thousands of cryptocurrency coins scattered all over the world's exchanges.
This can happen because of the very good level of price stability of USDT. You can see in the chart below the USDT price line which is always stable. The lowest price ever reached has never gone past $ 0.90 and the highest price has only ever touched a price of $ 1.32.
When this article was written, Tether's price was at $0.997722, it has decreased slightly by -0.8% from its original price of $ 1. But this happens a lot and in the future, it will return to its original price of $1.
The total amount of USDT Market Cap to date is $39,579,806,612 with total trading volume in the last 24 hours amounting to $82,749,405,432 and the current total circulating supply of USDT is 39,519,068,861 USDT.

BENEFITS OF HAVING TETHER (USDT)
If we make transactions on the blockchain, it will usually take quite a long time to work, but on the Tether network the transaction time is much faster, it only takes a few seconds to complete the transaction, or at most a few minutes.
By converting your crypto assets to USDT, you can protect your assets without having to worry about huge cryptocurrency fluctuations, and you also don't have to convert them directly to conventional currencies which have to be transferred to the account.
Tether also does not charge fees for all transactions between Tether wallets. This is absolutely favored by crypto-asset holders.
PLACE TO CHANGE CRYPTO ASSETS TO TETHER (USDT)
There are many exchanges that provide a place to convert our crypto assets to Tether tokens, such as Bittrex, Zipmex, Huobi, Binance, and many more.
We can also exchange the money in our account for USDT, that is, we just need to top up the balance on the exchange via a debit card, then later we just have to buy USDT on the marketplace.
CONCLUSION
This assignment really opened my mind about the world of cryptocurrency, because this is the first time I know that there is a coin/token that has a very stable price, even with its stability it is able to become one of the top crypto coins globally. I was also very interested in starting to exchange my crypto assets to USDT.
Thanks for coming to my blog.

Hello there Asmaul.
From what you researched, I'm sure you stumbled upon the school of thought that says Tether is manipulating BTC and that it is doomed to fail as each tether is not backed by one dolalr. What are your thoughts on this?
Cheers
Hello @spiritualmax
I'm a little doubtful that the value of USDT will decrease, because just like now which is not supported by the dollar but USDT is still very capable of being at the peak of Stablecoins.
But in the future, we can never be sure what will happen, so we can enjoy it and use the current situation.
Thank you for visiting my blog :)
