When the name Satoshi Nakamoto is mentioned, Bitcoin and cryptocurrency is what comes to mind. Satoshi Nakamoto, is who we refer to as the father and creator of Cryptocurrencies. The identity behind the name is unknown. It is unknown whether he is male or she is female, old or young or whether they are a group of people or not.
Even though the identity of this individual is unknown, he/ she created the first cryptocurrency, authored the Bitcoin Whitepaper and made the first transaction in the cryptocurrency world. In their effort, to create the cryptocurrency, they implemented the blockchain system, which has proven over the years to be a very reliable and secure type of database. It was in the Bitcoin Whitepaper, that this name was first seen. And there have been quite a lot conspiracies and theories around who is actually Satoshi Nakamoto.

The identity of Satoshi Nakamoto is internet and the world at large. Truth be told, many theories concerning the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto. But one way or the other, all of them have been disproved. Here are some of these claims.

If the name Satoshi Nakamoto is googled, the pictures of Dorian Satoshi Nakamoto is what pops up. In her attempt to find the person behind the Satoshi Nakamoto identity, a Newsweek Columnist by name of Leah McGrath Goodman happened to chance on a 64 year old, Japanese-American; who was a retired physicist and educated engineer, whose birthname was Dorian Satoshi Nakamoto. The fact that his birthname, was the same as Satoshi Nakamoto spiked her attention. His qualifications and work experience pertaining to Bitcoin made her think he was indeed the one. She did more research about him and found out that he worked for few corporations and US military. She became very suspicious when she realized that some of his projects were classified.

On confronting him for the first time about Bitcoin, he thought she was referring to one of his confidential projects, so he said "I am no longer involved in that and I cannot discuss it. It's been turned over to other people. They are in charge of it now. I no longer have any connection." This made her misunderstand what he said contextually and she thought he was talking in reference to Bitcoin.
In March 2014, she published an article revealing Dorian as Satoshi Nakamoto in the Newsweek Column. He publicly denied all claims that he was the Satoshi Nakamoto behind the creation of Bitcoin. Leah McGrath also came out to say his response was "careful but revealing" and "he tacitly acknowledged his role in the Bitcoin project."

Hal Finney was a computer scientist and a developer for the PGP Corporation. He is known for being a part of the first bitcoin transaction. He received the first bitcoin that Satoshi Nakamoto sent as an initiation of Bitcoin. He was also found receiving emails from Satoshi Nakamoto. Seeing this, it started speculating that he was Satoshi Nakamoto because of how heavily linked he was to Satoshi Nakamoto in the whole bitcoin project. But he came out to deny all these allegations and it was later found out to be true. He later died on the 28th of August, 2014 of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis(ALS).

Wei Dai is one of the very few recognized pioneers of the Crypto world. He is a computer engineer, who is known for his work in the Crypto++ project and the VMAC project. Even though he stepped away from the Crypto++ Project to work on other projects, his work was and is still maintained by the Crypto++ community.

In 1998, Wei Dai, together with some other people, began the cryptocurrency journey with the publication of an anonymous, peer-to-peer electronic cash system called "b-money". Wei Dai outlined in the paper the basic properties of all modern day cryptocurrencies but he just was not able to fully implement it. It can be said that Wei Dai is the one who actually thought about the cryptocurrency system and Satoshi Nakamoto took the idea from him. One thing that made Wei very influential is the fact, Satoshi referenced his work in "b-money" in the whitepaper of Bitcoin. Also, he together with Adam Back were the first two people who were contacted by Satoshi Nakamoto while he was developing Bitcoin. As a result of his work in the cryptocurrency world, a crypto unit was named after him. 1 Wei represents the smallest unit of Ether on the blockchain.
