A Month Full of Meaning
The two teenagers laughed together. The night seemed more beautiful when they were with him. Karin never thought she would feel this happy before, even though all they had been doing was walking in the city park. However, this person was able to make something boring into a very enjoyable story.
Theo looked at Karin who still had traces of laughter on her face. The young man smiled, feeling proud that he had managed to chase away Karin's tears. Then when his gaze was returned by Karin, Theo immediately looked away, not wanting to look like a fool because he was briefly fascinated. The young man cleared his throat to control himself then accidentally looked up at the sky. The full moon. His expression changed instantly. "Soon..." He whispered.
Karin could only frown in confusion. But she didn't think too much about it because her attention had been diverted to the Ferris wheel not far away. The colorful lights from the Ferris wheel and the noisy voices made Karin even more unable to control her feelings of happiness. "Can I go there?" Theo just said yes.
Both of them were at a festival celebrating Valentine's night. They had tried several games, both of them looked happy and enjoyed each other's company. Theo looked at his palms which seemed a little blurry from his view. Karin who accidentally saw it was also surprised. "Is it time?" She whispered with a sad gaze looking at Theo. The young man couldn't say anything, all he did was keep smiling. "I love you." Theo gently stroked Karin's cheek, looking straight at her.
Karin was silent. Her lips were increasingly reluctant to speak. She stared at Theo with mixed feelings. Slowly Theo's body also blurred from her view while time had stopped since a few seconds ago, the people around him were like statues. The full moon radiated more and more light, getting brighter as if sucking Theo's life light.
Before Theo's face completely disappeared, Karin managed to shed her tears while hugging a picture and curling up on her bed.
Theo did it. Intending to reduce the sadness that Karin would bear but instead made her heart hurt even more. The young man disappeared and made everything seem like it was just a meaningless dream. Should Karin be grateful for this separation? Then what about their memories so far? What should Karin do with it.
