Tongue Twister Contest Results

in Dream Steem28 days ago

Things don’t always go as planned, and this time was no exception. I had what I believed was a stroke of brilliance. Childhood memories came rushing back, and I thought, "Why not host a Tongue Twister contest?" A fantastic idea, right? I was over the moon with excitement, eagerly checking Steemit every five minutes after posting the contest to see if any new entries had come in.

It wasn't too fun, I guess. However, it wasn’t entirely disappointing. As they say, finding even one gem can be enough. I’ll tread lightly here. I don’t want to get into any blame games. But I must say that seeing so many AI-generated entries was a bit disheartening. So, through this platform, I have one request for all of you: please don’t litter such a creative space. Use AI thoughtfully and responsibly. Once your credibility is questioned, it can be challenging to regain trust.

Having said that, I must clarify that I, too, take the help of machines for image generation, grammar checking, and sometimes translation. So, I’m not claiming to be a super literature expert. I use machine as an assistant, not as an imitator. I urge you to do the same.

Without further ado, let’s announce the results of the tongue twister contest. I received a total of five entries, and I also shared my own take on it. However, I’m afraid only two of them qualify as valid (human-made) based on my assessment. I might be wrong, so please excuse me if you think otherwise. Due to this, the original prize distribution has been canceled. Instead, I will divide the prize money between these two winners.

One entry that genuinely impressed me came from @event-horizon, whose tongue twister truly stood out.

It is a fun tongue twister as well as an equally entertaining autobiography. Well done!

She graciously asked me to redirect her prize to an underrated author. However, I feel it’s only fair to honor her entry, so I’ll be splitting the prize equally between the two winners.

So the second entry that brought a smile to my face is:

Each of you will receive 7.5 Steem as your well-deserved prize.

You will see the screenshot of prize money in comments.

Keep challenging yourself, and let’s continue to celebrate the joy of creativity together!

I wish more community leaders openly discourage the misuse of AI. This contest was all about creativity and using AI for it, kind of demeans such interesting idea.

I'm thrilled to see the results but I wish there was a little more competition. Your contest was brilliant like always. With more rewards going to SLC, there are fewer people who want to put effort elsewhere.

Can it be due a lack of visibility there were not many entries or the fact it is pointless to add one in the own language if no one knows what the tongue twister is or are by now all creative writers scared away from this platform?

Ummm... I can't speak for all. One reason could be SLC stealing most traffic. But we can't put the entire blame on that; there are possibly other reasons like you mentioned.

Your comment made me think why do I skip a contest... there are usually multiple reasons. Contests are a great way to gain visibility when you are new and I'm well past that stage. My first instinct is to scroll away whenever I come across one. But then, I'm also one of the free-spirited users; even in my early days, I mostly preferred writing freely, and by that, I mean, I'm not someone who'd just hold a pen and start writing immediately. I need time to get in the zone, be inspired and get the feels of what I'm about to write. So most contests don't give me the feels or, let's just say, are not relatable for me. If I want, I can dig up some information online on any contest topic (if it's new for me) and put together a post, but that's against my nature.

The same happened with this contest. I loved the idea but I didn't think about participating out of habit. And then the next day, I got inspired by an unexpected event and found my muse for the post.

That's how and why I participate.

Thank you for your contribution:

It's always difficult to find the right balance between consistency and lightness... Your decision is great; hopefully the downer AI won't stop you from challenging us with more surprises!

Oh yes: Balance is the key. I have been saying this forever now...

Thank you so much for choosing me as winner ❤️☺️

In average I don't like to vote for contests and thebannouncement of winners posts but yours has something more to offer. I hope it will be read.

Thank you for stopping by, @wakeupkitty. I appreciate your response and of course the vote.

I also read your reply to event-horizon regarding the reasons for the low influx. The primary reason seems to be the engagement challenges. As you can see, I raised the prize pool to attract lure in good entries, hoping for nice catch. However, it still doesn’t compare to what the 01/02 votes can offer.

Another possible reason could be the complexity of the challenge. Perhaps it wasn’t as creative or enjoyable as I envisioned. The concept of a tongue twister might be unfamiliar to many. Having said that: If the same challenge had been presented through engagement contests, what do you think the response would have been?

And yes, as you mentioned, the creative aspect could also play a role. I quote you:

By now, have all the creative writers been scared away from this platform?

We have to think about it!!!
