My husband's 50th birthday was last January 22. I want to organize a surprise birthday party. I discussed this with my elder son in Sri Lanka and my younger son abroad. When I told them I wanted to surprise Dada, they both agreed and advised me on numerous options. But, none of that won’t match with me, so I presented my plan to them.

I replied, "No, son, I want to organize a night party inviting Dada's all friends in our housing scheme without knowing Dada." My eldest son said, "It was a great idea, but how can we plan it without telling Dada?" I responded, "That is simple; let us send our Dada to grandmother's house and inform uncle to keep him there until the night." Then they both agreed to my plan and arranged everything in confidentiality.

A dinner was ordered with a local caterer, and the remaining decorations were handed to another party. A small band was also hired. My eldest son ordered hot and soft drinks in secret. Extra chairs and huts are also ordered. My neighbors were also invited privately and informed of our plans, and they promised not to tell my husband. Everything was ready now.

Over the phone, I explained our plan to my brother-in-law and requested him to accompany my husband to their mother’s house and stay there until the night. My Brother-in-law also agreed and on January 22 he came to our house, claiming that there was an emergency.

My husband also went to their native place with his brother, without knowing anything. In the meantime, my elder son, daughter-in-law, and my sisters together organized everything. By 7:30 p.m., everything was ready. The birthday cake I ordered from a nearby restaurant was delivered on schedule. Everything was ready by 7:30 p.m. A birthday cake that I ordered from a nearby restaurant was delivered on time.

We expected approximately 200 guests to attend the party, and they arrived at my place one by one. However, the birthday boy had not yet arrived. All attendees are aware of the secret, and they eagerly await my husband's arrival. My husband arrived around 8 p.m. All of the visitors clapped till he entered the house. My husband was surprised to discover colorful decorations and tables with excellent Sri Lankan meals such as rice and curry, hoppers, and sweets. Moreover, he was surprised to see a large crowd. When the audience sang the song "Happy Birthday to...", then he realized what was going on. He entered the house a bit shyly, apologizing to the crowd. Until he arrived, my son, daughter-in-law, my sisters, and I served welcome drinks to the crowd.

When my husband entered the visiting room with a bright smile, we asked him to cut the cake. Among laughter and beautiful voices, he cut the cake and fed us. The party continued into the night when laughing echoed through the air and music played joyfully. No one wanted to go back to their houses, even if it was a passing night, everyone enjoyed the party cheerfully. However, as the clock struck midnight, a horrible storm arrived, bringing heavy rain and strong winds.

We requested my husband, who entered the visiting room with a bright smile, to cut the cake. He cut the cake and fed us all while we laughed and sang. The party continued throughout the night, with laughter echoing through the air and music playing joyfully. No one wanted to return to their homes; even if it was only for one night, everyone had a good time. However, as the clock struck midnight, a horrible storm arrived, bringing heavy rain and strong winds.

Suddenly, a loud noise broke out, frightening everyone. We watched one of the old, tall coconut trees near our house being struck by lightning and nearly collapsing onto our roof. The crowd and us all ran out, looking for a safe spot to cover.

We noticed a little fire that had formed as a result of the lightning strike. My neighbors quickly supported us in extinguishing the fire by bringing water and preventing it from spreading.

Finally, with the help of my crowd, we were able to extinguish the fire, leaving us with an unforgettable memory.
We were grateful to our neighbors for their kindness and support in protecting our house from fire. Without hope, we had to end our party at midnight. Nature surprised us, no matter how we tried to surprise our husband.

Thank you for reading my post.

You had a plan to surprise your hubby and nature had its own plan. I am not surprised by that surprise party theme that you and your family did for their loved one but then you had a surprise guest that came at midnight.

Yes, that is the style of nature.
