A beautiful and unpretentious city that we rarely hear the name criminal, the city is the capital of the province entitled serambi mekah people call it in the local language "kuta raja" or known as the city of kings according to history is a relic city during the time of the young king iskandar whose name is now banda aceh is one of the provinces of an Indonesian state.

Initially I lived in the city to continue my high school in 1996 I got along with local residents who were friendly to newcomers, especially those who were students with local wisdom that made me feel at home living in the city so that I completed three years of education there.

At the end of 1999 I continued my education at a university in the city with the title in the local language "boh jantong ate rakyat" which means the heart of the people is a university of pride for the people of Aceh which is widely known as the university of Syiah kuala.

In the acceptance of selection as a new student I was declared graduated based on the choice I chose at the first order in the faculty of medicine life rolled on as usual as a student with academic busyness becoming my daily routine I did not feel I had completed academic education for four years and I got a medical degree in 2003.

And I have to complete the clinical clerkship for two years to get a profession as a doctor in one of the teaching hospitals in the city in a period of one year has passed I passed without obstacles

right at the beginning of my second year of clinical clerkship I took the surgical science stase, which coincided with my duty schedule on Sunday, December 26, 2004 as usual early in the morning I did a visit to see the condition of the patients in the hospital room.

at first I felt staggering I thought maybe I was anemic or hypotensive because these two symptoms I often felt during this time I lay down on the wall near the Nurse Station the longer the vibration I felt got stronger so I had to squat down

Then I heard hysterical screams from patients and families who were taking care of them earthquake ... earthquake.... I looked into the ward I saw the infusion pole falling and the bed began to move from its place, the sound of crying was heard everywhere the atmosphere was chaotic at that time.

I was still in a squatting position with my hands above my head my heart was beating very fast my chest was very hard to breathe at that time I was very confused only my breath felt a piece of fragments coming out of my nose

Then the earthquake stopped for a moment then I listened to the safety alarm roaring all corners of the hospital then after the earthquake stopped I stood up with my knees slightly shaking trying to contact my family to ask how they were doing but the cellular network was not connected and the signal on the cell phone was not there

I saw some nurses cleaning up the room again and I helped lift the patient's bed to its original place and I listened to many mall buildings and shops that collapsed out there from the patient's family who just arrived at the hospital and he said the earthquake just now reached 6.3 on the Richter scale

not yet lost the tension we felt the second aftershock was very powerful reaching 9.3 on the Richter scale from what we experienced before, this is the second thing we felt repeated again but this time I saw the walls of the hospital there were starting to crack here I was unable to tell the condition of the patient with his condition and the contents of the room that I saw there were hugging while crying

the conditions at that time were dark my mind with the surrounding circumstances only thought of how to get out of the hospital's stench room I walked half-running by holding the stethoscope tightly in my hand mentioning the asma allah incessantly from my mouth

I finally arrived at the hospital yard I saw people running without direction and the car was so fast speeding on the road with the condition of the road tight and crowded I could not count the victims that occurred on the highway then I turned my head towards the parking lot for some reason my body moved to take the motorcycle that I parked there then I rushed to the parking lot to take the motorcycle to leave the hospital which was very chaotic at that time.

then I listened to the cheers of the water people ... water ... I took the motorcycle that fell there in a hurry I started the motorcycle to go to the highway I looked back as if it was dark it turned out that the water that merged with the debris of the house as high as twice the coconut tree was hitting us with a distance of four hundred meters from where I was then I followed the direction of the people running with the motorcycle

Towards the hills with difficulty in order to survive the water that was so powerful crashing into our beloved city with a chaotic mood after an hour later we only saw that what was land became an ocean the next day the water receded visible mud and the remaining remnants of building debris where for almost a month the land litas connecting between cities were completely broken.

This is the panic attack that I felt so powerful from the true story that I experienced in 2004.

Now the history of the incident is immortalized in the aceh tsunami museum

Of course your contribution belongs here!

We know the data from so many major disasters. We read about them, watch the news. But we easily forget that we have real people around us who have lived through - and survived - such events.

I hope nothing bad happened to your family and that in your profession as a doctor you were able to help repair the consequences of the tsunami...

Thank you for the answer and empathy, success is always for you🤝
