Those were my words, actually. I came up with that out of annoyance with someone.

Here's the story behind that:

It happened when I posted my reaction (praising the humor in it) to Thoreau's subtle criticism of his townsmen who chose to live a lifeless existence.

Here's the quote:
“When sometimes I am reminded that the mechanics and shopkeepers stay in their shops not only all the forenoon, but all the afternoon too, sitting with crossed legs, so many of them—as if the legs were made to sit upon, and not to stand or walk upon—I think that they deserve some credit for not having all committed suicide long ago.”

However, someone commented that Thoreau was somewhat out of line there and that it was actually inappropriate making jokes about suicide.
