Something new: Script writing

Last semester at school, we were given a project to do by one of our lecturers for a course. The title of the course is Introduction to Film and Cinema. It entails learning about the terms and terminology related to making and marketing movies. It expantiates on the process of making movies and also the roles of the personnel involved.

The project our lecturers gave us was to act and make a movie. That was the practical aspect of the course and it was going to give us marks for our semester's assessment. This was new to most of us as we all had little to no experience in making a full movie. The closest thing we might have done was skit making or short videos editing.

In this project, we had to write the script, scout out locations for the movie, settle our welfare and all that. I have never written a movie script before but since I have writing experience on other stuffs and I was probably the best writer in the group, I volunteered to write the script. We brought up an idea for the movie and I developed it into a script. It was my first time and i had a tight deadline. I was almost stretched to the breaking point but when I was done, I was proud of my achievement. Here's a screenshot of a page of the script.

We named the movie, "Conundrum". Conundrum means a difficult or confusing problem or question. Here's why we named it Conundrum. A girl's dead body was found in her professor's office? Who killed her? The professor who she was blackmailing? Her boyfriend who she was holding a big secret over? Or her mum who was scared she could destroy her life? Difficult puzzle right? The ending of the script was so surprising and I bet when our lecturer watches it, he will be so surprised .

I was also put in charge of directing the movie since I was the writer of the script. That was a more challenging task because my coursemates can be stubborn. Directing them was challenging but it was thrilling. It was new to me but it was very fun cause I related with my coursemates, overcame challenges with them, bonded with them and made new friends.
