Do you feel that there are opportunities or occasions where you think your brightness deserves to stand out more than that of others?

There were multiple occasions came into my life where I considered that my efforts should have to be stand out more than that of others. Appreciating individual efforts can provide boost in both personal and professional. However, I also believe in the teamwork where everyone put the collective efforts that give higher chances to success.

A specific example is I was working in a night shift and it was a Saturday night. Our IT company has clients all over the world and they were not available on the weekends. So, I was working in a night shift start at 10 PM and was doing routine work. After a midnight around 2 AM I just come to know that our one of the processes has broken. Without wasting time, I put my skill and efforts and start proactively check few client’s statuses wherein I confirmed about the issue which need immediate attention.

Due to Weekends our higher management was also on their week offs and I understand that if the issue does not rectify at earliest then on Monday when client’s login in their office hours, we might face lot of escalation. I collected all the details on the issue and find the immediate solution and quick connect to our developer team and understand them all the situation. Great that our developer has understand my concern and impact of the issue, he applied the fix that I provided and pushed to all our clients. I resolved the resolved the issue before end my shift in the morning. Later I send emails to our management to knowing them about the situation.

On Monday there were some other works done to just close the issue and my work did not recognize, instead the people who close the issue on Monday got appreciated, it just looks like I was no were during this situation.

However, I did not demotivate completely and ensure such thing affect my skills and proactiveness. I continue contributing, giving my 100% in each work and looking for opportunities where I will stand out more than that of others.

Yes, even knowing how brilliant I am, I will turn off my light a little to give someone else the opportunity to shine at an appropriate time. How and why, I will do this?

I believe in teamwork and I am having helping nature. If you help others then in future others can help you. If I am working in a case and I already know the answer for it or know how to drive a case a proper way, if there is an my junior or someone with my same level who is also involved in the same case and I find his struggling.

Considering that I am already a step above that person or believing that such opportunities can come in future, if this opportunity can give that person little boost in his career growth, instead I take the opportunity to shine I will assist him 100% in a same way that I can do. Also, I will guide him how he can get highlighted after completing this opportunity by emailing seniors about the case to making them awareness.

I understand that everyone can get the opportunity to get shine. However, If I take a one step back and support others, I believe I am not losing anything instead this can create a collective success and make good workplace.

I don’t like to show what work I have done or don’t like to compete others. I believe no one is 100% knowledgeable. Work silently is what I believe and work can highlight that other come to know what I did. I trust on management level and when they really have something good for me, I am sure it will surely come to me.

The way I kept my professional in positive and putting 100% efforts every day, my work starts getting highlighted, I frequently receiving appreciations from our clients. My management starts recognizing me for promotions and I got it. Additionally, they awarded me in company for successfully achieving the role. This helps me to be a unique in a crowed and shine. My management, teammates, teamwork they all helped me somewhere to shine and grow.

My qualities and virtues helped me to have a desired partner. Qualities like helping nature, kindness, honesty, good sense of humor, these things helped each other to connect and create a bond between us. My partner mention sometime how my patience and sense of humor made difference in our relation.

I think whether you’re in relationship or looking for one, personal growth, improvement, make and maintain good qualities is something on our journey always.
