Stingy: Myth or Reality
Do you know anyone close to you who is stingy? Tell us why it is.
Personally, I don’t think I know anyone who is particularly stingy. Sometimes I think I am THE stingy person, the way I hold on to money. I like to think I am being frugal but who knows?
Are there differences between being thrifty and being stingy?
I believe there are differences between a stingy person and a thrifty person. I think it depends on the availability of money. The economy is strangling everyone. But some people are more lucky than others. More than that, you make money so you can spend it. Both on important and casual things. People who are thrifty do not have much to spend on. While stingy people, even when it is necessary or helpful are extremely hesistant and dubious. They can be other factors such as bad experiences in lending money but ultimately it doesn’t make them stingy. Just scared and if is important and they really are not stingy, they will find a less conspicuous way.
Did you have any experience with a partner who was stingy? Tell us about it.
Yes, I have had an experience with a stingy partner. No, he wasn’t thrifty because he spent a lot on other things that people would deem unnecessary.
It is said that statistically men are stingier than women, what can you say about it according to your gender?
According to my gender, I believe that this is a thin line. And both genders are equal to the task of being optimally stingy hiding under the guise of saving but spending a lot on non-essential things.
There is a Venezuelan saying that goes: "You are more clingy than old on a motorcycle" if you could refresh or replace the last thing you would put on?
This Venezuelan saying "You are more clingy than old on a motorcycle" really made me laugh. Here is a Nigerian proverb to the same effect: A person who doesn't share their yam is only inviting thieves to their barn. This proverb highlights the idea that hoarding wealth or resources can lead to negative consequences, emphasizing the value of generosity. I hope that everyone can find the balance between spending and saving. Have a blessed week.
Most of the times too, I think that I'm stingy. But my Mum tells me I share a lot. 😅
Yeah, I really dislike it when someone is hoarding knowledge. It makes me think of people who have died and have also hoarded knowledge. Even after all the hoarding and keeping to yourself, someone in future is going to discover that knowledge and share it with the world. What did you gain in the end?
Thanks for sharing 😊
Thanks for the invite and have a blessed week ✨
