I have been inactive on community outreach for a couple of weeks because my doctor ordered me to be in a bedrest. It was unfortunate that my pregnancy was terminated but I know God has a greater and better plans for me. I am not in a bedrest now and feeling much better.

When my husband is scheduled to go to Cebu City to buy medicine supplies, I volunteered to go with him and plan to visit some of the homeless people. This time I prepared 10.0 packs of food consisting of a loaf bread and 1.5-liter bottled water.

There is a particular place in Cebu City where most of the homeless people stay during the night and it is just near to the pharmacy where we are buying our medicine supplies.

Along the way we encountered several issues like we have a minor car trouble so we stayed on the side of the road for several minutes. Luckily my husband managed to repair the problem and we go our way.

Several minutes later, the rain poured very hard so we have to again park the car because of poor road visibility and hoping that the rain will soon stop.

When the rain slows down, we immediately drive to the location where we are going to distribute the foods we prepared.

I spotted a woman with a baby on the side of the street and this is very heartbreaking sight. That baby should be sleeping in a nice, warm bed but here he is lying on a cold concrete on the side of the road.

Driving on to another location, one homeless person remembers us and greeted us happily. He is the one whom we previously given hotdog in a bun and water.

He immediately calls his friends who like him dwells on the street. We are able to provide each of them a loaf of bread and a 1.5-liter of water enough to satisfy their hunger for the night and hopefully until the morning.

We are able to distribute 8 loafs of bread and 8 of 1.5-liter bottled water that day and head to go home because rain poured again very hard and we are having hard time to see another 2 homeless person for the remaining loaves. So I have decided to continue it some other day.

Today, amid so much darkness we need to see the light of hope and to be men and women who bring hope to others.

Even how dark we encounter in life, don't be discourage, don't lose hope and may we use it to always choose to be a light to others - most especially the homeless and the needy ones.
