Bireuen Resort Police Arrest 17 Online Gamblers.

The Aceh Police are currently intensively eradicating online gambling which is rampant in society.

In Bireuen Regency, Aceh Province, in just six days, 17 residents were arrested by the Bireuen Police Criminal Investigation Unit Opsnal Team in various places in this district, 20-25 June 2024.

Those who are suspected of being involved in online gambling games are generally arrested at night and are now required to report them.

Bireuen Resort Police Chief (Kapolres), AKBP Jatmiko SH MH, accompanied by a number of other officials, Wednesday (26/6/2024) afternoon said they played slot games provided on the website with a certain betting amount.

The slot game is only a matter of winning, if you win, your balance will increase, whereas if you lose, your balance will be deducted.

The form of online gambling game they play is by creating a Web account (Special Gambling Link), then filling in the balance of money as a bet.

Like other gambling, online gambling certainly promises victory for the players, although generally they lose more often than they win.

Apart from being prohibited and breaking the law, online gambling is also a big problem today. The perpetrator who was arrested, said the Bireuen Police Chief, will apply article 18 in conjunction with article 19 of Aceh Qanun number 6 of 2014 concerning jinayat law.

Article 28 is threatened with uqubat ta'zir being whipped a maximum of 12 times or a fine of a maximum of 120 grams of gold or 12 months' imprisonment. Meanwhile, article 19 threatens with 'ukubat ta'zir' lashings a maximum of 30 times or a fine of a maximum of 300 grams of pure gold or imprisonment for a maximum of 30 months.

Those who are arrested after being questioned are required to report twice a week. The Bireuen Police Team continues to complete their files to be submitted to the Lhokseumawe Public Prosecutor's Office for trial at the Bireuen Sharia Court.

At the end of the meeting, several of the perpetrators, when asked by the Bireuen Police Chief, promised not to repeat these actions again.

Previously, the Bireuen Police Criminal Investigation Unit's Opsnal Team arrested 17 residents in the recent online gambling case. Apart from arresting 17 residents from various professions, the police also secured a number of pieces of evidence or BB in the maisir case.

The Police Chief said that the evidence that was secured from the 17 suspects was 16 cellphones and IDR 5,300,000 in cash. The cellphones that were secured and shown at the meeting were one Techno brand cellphone in silver, one Redmi not 10 pro brand cellphone in gold, one Vivo 18.20 brand cellphone in blue.

Then, one brown Vivo Y27 brand cellphone, one black Vivo brand cellphone, one white Lenovo brand cellphone, one black Samsung Galaxy A21 s cellphone.

Then one blue Techno cellphone, one Vivo y16 Glizzi Gold brand cellphone, one silver Samsung type M14 cellphone and one blue Vivo brand cellphone.

Furthermore, one white Iphone 11 brand cellphone, one black Samsung Galaxy A54 brand cellphone, one silver Realme brand cellphone, one black Poko brand cellphone and one gray Vivo brand cellphone.

The evidence was secured at the Bireuen Police as evidence in the case. KBO Criminal Investigation said that the 17 suspects would be questioned separately and there were 13 case files. "There are 17 perpetrators with 13 cases," he said.
