Acting Regent Hopes Disasters that Occur in Bireuen are Handled with Good Mitigation.

40 participants, Heads of Regency Work Units (SKPK) and agencies related to disaster management, took part in the Kick Off Meeting and Workshop on preparing disaster management plans held by the Bireuen Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD).

The activity was carried out as a panel by three resource persons from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), the Aceh Disaster Management Agency (BPBA) Aceh Province and from experts in Preparing Disaster Management Plans (RPB) Bireuen Regency.

This activity was opened by the Acting Regent of Bireuen, Aulia Sofyan, PhD, represented by Assistant II Dailami, SHut, Tuesday (4/6/2024) morning, in the Wisma Bireuen Jaya Hall.

The chairman of the implementing committee is also the Chief Executive (Kalaksa) of BPBD Bireuen, Afwadi said in his report. The purpose and objective of holding this kick off meeting is, as an initial meeting and the start of preparing the Bireuen Regency Disaster Management Plan document.

Providing a common understanding for the parties regarding the mechanism, stages that will be implemented as well as a commitment to fulfilling the data required when preparing the Bireuen Regency disaster management plan document.

The preparation of this disaster management plan document is a follow-up to the Bireuen Regency disaster risk assessment document
prepared in 2023, and this is a form of commitment by the Bireuen Regency Government, to improve disaster management in the Bireuen Regency area, so that the Minimum Service Standards
(SPM) Sub-Disaster Affairs can be achieved, he explained.

Assistant II of the Bireuen Regional Secretariat, Dailami, Shut, in a briefing said, Bireuen Regency, one of the districts in Indonesia has the highest risk of natural disasters, because geographically, geologically, demographically and climatologically the Bireuen Regency area is a disaster-prone area, whether due to natural factors and/or non-natural factors, as well as humans.

Based on historical records of disaster events recorded by BPBD Bireuen, the order of disasters based on frequency of occurrence is extreme weather, floods, landslides, abrasion and high waves and earthquakes.

"Disaster events occur in Bireuen Regency if they are not handled with good disaster mitigation. This will affect the security and comfort of local residents, affecting the stability of Bireuen Regency's development," he said.

"I urge all participants to take part in this activity well, understand what is being conveyed, so that the output of this activity is truly beneficial for us considering that this activity is very important, to be able to facilitate disaster management coordination between agencies in Bireuen, sharpen efforts disaster management where it is needed
integrated and measurable planning," he said.

The kick off meeting as a sign of the start of preparing the disaster management plan document is an integrated mechanism for planning and analyzing a comprehensive issue regarding disaster risk in the Bireuen area.

So as to produce policy recommendations, strategies and program directions that can be utilized in the development process in the region. Apart from that, the preparation of work plans also produces action plans for programs and activities related to disaster management.
