The Diary Game I 07-27-2022 I "Attended My Friend's Wedding"

A beautiful day full of hope my dear steemian friends! Hoping all good happenings in life in spite of our different faces of life.

Sharing you today my experience on attending my friend’s wedding and on how we Filipino specifically Catholics celebrated a very special day like this.

It was last month my friend at the same time my colleague at school asked me if me and my husband could be one of the principal sponsors of their wedding. Of course, I absolutely answered “Yes” because this is actually my first time to attend a wedding being one of the principal sponsors. Here in our country, to be a principal sponsor does not only mean a witness of this holy union or signing marriage contract, most importantly they would act as godparents.

So just a week ago, it was Friday, we attended my friend’s wedding. It was held in the church in our place at 3:00 in the afternoon. The whole entourage; the principal and secondary sponsors then the couple of course walked down the aisle with so much happiness on this day. The holy ceremony lasted for an hour. It was really a great feeling seeing two people in love and witness their vows not just to men but most of all to God.

After the holy mass, we went to where the reception was held. There was a short program like offering short prayer in which I also led then the giving heartfelt messages followed and sponsors were also asked to dance together with newly wed.

There was also a money dance which signifies prosperity where people who attended pins red envelope with any amount of money inside. Then the eating time followed. We ate and had a good chat together with the other guest. It was really a great day for me and my husband.

So that’s how we celebrate wedding here.
