One of the things we should keep in mind at all times in a desktop or laptop computer are its temperatures, since depending on its values our equipment may or may not work properly, in addition to extending its life for many years, something that can benefit us. Many times buying a new computer can be expensive.

Nowadays there are many applications for monitoring the temperatures of the internal components of a pc, such components can be hard disks, motherboard chips, processors or memories. Some of these programs are of payment and others are completely free, there is a very simple one called hwmonitor which gives us a complete information of our equipment completely free.

Depending on our hardware we can establish which are the ideal temperatures, remember that this factor will depend on the use we are giving to the computer, for example, it is not the same to do a small office work than to play some video game, since both tasks consume different resources our PC.

But it can be the case that our computer throws alarming temperatures just by using the internet browser, that's when we must inspect certain things, like the dust that accumulates inside our computer or the thermal paste lodged in certain parts, for example the processor.

Generally, if we don't take care of the temperatures of certain components they can suffer irreparable damages or present unexpected failures, one of the most suffered is that the computer or laptop turns off suddenly and can't turn on immediately, this happens because the processor overheats and can't work properly again until its temperatures go down.

Other more relevant symptoms can also occur. Hasn't it happened to you that, from one moment to the next, the computer works too slowly? There are several reasons for this problem, but when it comes to temperatures, it is possible that the processor is suffering from Thermal Throttling.

What is Thermal Throttling?

When an electronic component reaches a high temperature, a defense mechanism enters the process, which automatically lowers its energy consumption in order to lower temperatures, directly affecting performance. This defense mechanism is known as Thermal Throttling.

This is why many times when having different tasks assigned to our processor it tends to lower the frequencies, making it slower than normal, causing its work in processing tasks to drop considerably, until its temperatures drop to normal standards.

These reasons make it important that our computer has a very good ventilation or failing that a cooling system in optimal conditions. In the case of the desktop PC is good to check all the dissipaters that are not covered by dust and have the cabinet in an open place. In the case of laptops try as much as possible not to place them on carpets and have bases designed to dissipate the heat from its bottom.

If you keep the ideal temperatures you will have an equipment working in optimal conditions. Remember that this applies to any component, but the ones we should pay more attention to are the processor and video card, which usually generate more heat inside our computer.
