Traveled By train (පොඩි මැණිකේ) |battle month|10
Anyway, we started our journey to Badulla. After passing many railway stations, the train reached the Kandy station around 9.00am. Such as; Veyangoda, Polagahawela, Rambukkana, Peredeniya…Etc.
The train stopped a little time in the Peradeniya station, among that time we took our breakfast. Somehow, we were able go to Perandeniya very quickly. Because it’s an express train. But then the journey got a little difficult. The train made its way to Badulla, passing beautiful waterfalls and tea estates through the mountains.
And also, a large number of bin houses were also to be passed. We drunk plain tea with biscuits around 3.30pm. Among that time also ate sandwiches, some bites…etc. Therefore, we unable to get our lunch. The train again stopped in the Pattipola railway station due to huge rain. We felt a very cold climate that time. So, we weared our sweaters.
After while the train started going again. Then we passed a very wonderful bridge as name as Nine Arch Bridge. I think it is a wonderful architectural design.
Anyway, we reached Badulla station around 5.30pm. So, we had a little hungry. But didn’t care it and went to our bungalow. It was a really fun trip. It was also a new experience for me as it was the first time, I had traveled by train to Badulla. So I'm not going to talk more about first experience.
Your article takes me to my past, where I went on a journey to Bandarawela via train with my university batch mates. After the nawalapitiya train station, it was really beautiful , filled up with mist and surrounded by tea estates. I think, everyone should go this beautiful journey at least once in a life time.
@ransika your captures are really nice!!!

Thank you very much @thimalteb
No doubt, this is a great journey, a route where we can travel by train in Sri-Lanka.
I never had a chance to go in first class which is fully open to outside by glass partitions. If I am not wrong, there was a night train which started from Pettah station at night time named පොඩි මැණිකේ too.
I used to come to Veyangoda from pettah station twice a week by train in 2013 and I never got a chance to come by this train as it allows check-in in only for pre-booked passengers.
And the price was higher than normal trains and I was jealous of those who were going on that train. just for kidding......😄😄
Is that the inside of the the train. Just wow. Looks like the inside of a highway bus. A seat near a window is the perfect for enjoying a journey like this with beautiful scenarios all the way long.
I also have taken the same root 3 years ago in a bit old train. That is actually most beautiful train ride I ever had.
