Talk About Your Hobby | Steem Sri Lanka 3G Contest Series| Week 05

I am @delakloe an indigene and a public sector worker in Ghana in West Africa. Growing up in the mist of four siblings and between two tribes, Asante and Ewe was extremely difficult.

At the early stages of my childhood life, I loved football and playing with my friends in the school team and town under twelve when I was in the primary school was awesome. The position I played and my performance had given me a name from colleagues and town folks. A7 was the name given to me. 7 representing my jersey number and the position I played as a right winger and A the school I went. There were two schools in town, Kona Methodist Primary School A and B.

So all those days, there was not a single day I didn't go for practice or learn new skills. My life changed completely when I completed Senior High school. My dad died a year after my completion and thing became difficult. He died on 5th day of November, 2009 around 2:00-2:30pm. I won't bore you with the details but what changed significantly was my playing days. I had lost focus and I liked staying alone and think about what to do with my life.

• Ideas would come into my head whenever I am sad. I began to put these emotions onto paper. This helped me defeat a bit of the sadness in me. These writing turned into motivational write up and those who read strated inviting me to programs.
• I gained experience to write short stories and these short stories helped me to begin to write my first movie script. I then went online so I could learn more stuff about how to write a better script. I have no formal education on it. This came to me as a surprise and also out of my grieve.

Where I go when am distressed

This hobby came to me after my father had passed away. So sometimes I imagine if he was to be alive, would I have seen if I had this talent. Maybe it would come anyways but I have learnt to believe that, nothing happens just like that.

• My love for writing now supercedes playing of football. The whole of this year up until now, I have never kicked a ball but there is not a single day I don't write. I'm currently working on a series which borders on love and a bit of the hustles our people went through slavery. A bit of love and pain in one story. Even in my stressful and busiest days, I still get time to make changes in my writings. This shows you the love and passion I have developed for this.
• I have been able to write five scripts and currently working on the series. Through that, I have met people in our Ghanaian movie industry. Though I have not met the people I really want because my idea is not basically for local market. I have not seen a Ghanaian movie that borders on the pains our people went through. Most of these movies are done by foreigners and I hoping to meet people who will buy into my idea.
• My vocabulary has improved and now I'm able to stand in a large crowd to speak. In my teenage life, I was quiet reserved and shy to talk to people. When my dad went home and I was left to wonder on my own, these shines and fear went away.
• I plan to have a formal education on script writing even though, I go online and learn new skills on how to write a good script. This small short story has helped me to gain additional work that in over time would help my finances. Most producers I met want me to sell my ideas or join their production team but now a days in Ghana, movies don't sell so it becomes difficult to get the recognition I want. My dream is to reach the Oscars and I have the hope that this would happen one day and when it does I would be fulfilled.
