Today In Sports: Sunday Sports Are Legalized!
Prior to writing this I did not know what Blue Laws were or that they ever existed. For those of you who don't know, Blue laws are (were?) laws in the United States that varied by states. These laws were designed to enforce religious standards on Sundays. This applied to things such as alcohol sales, retail activities, etc.
For Pennsylvania, the Blue Law made Sunday sports illegal! In 1931 it was changed, permitting only Baseball to be played on Sundays. However, the law was deprecated in 1933 in order to make room for the Philadelphia Eagles franchise to play on Sundays.
The law also included that local communities should hold referenda to determine the reach and extent of the Blue Laws in their particular districts.
On **November 7th, 1933, the referendum on the Blue Laws passed in Philadelphia, and it became law.
Good thing too, what would we do on Sundays without sports and alcohol?
I'm more interested if betting becomes legal in other countries. As I know, not all countries approve of it, for some reason, and I think that's weird because there's nothing wrong with sports bets. I regularly place bets on https://takebet.co.zw/, and for me, it's a great way to spend some free time, and sometimes I even think it's more entertaining than playing sports yourself.
