Great history.
Then & Now: When you think of "flight," nine times out of ten you think of Orville and Wilbur Wright; two American brothers, aviators, engineers, inventors and pioneers from Dayton, Ohio. In 1903, the brothers achieved the first powered, sustained and controlled airplane flight. Without their dedication and persistence, we wouldn't have the luxury of taking flight today. That means no in-flight movies or pretzels and peanuts. Now, take what the Wright brothers accomplished and factor in intense G-force speed, aerobatics and showmanship and you have the Blue Angels. Formed in 1946, the Blue Angels are the second oldest formal flying aerobatic team in the world, after the French Patrouille de France formed in 1931.
